Hi.

Due to a huge unforseen circumstance and possible new job that would require a 1000 mile relocation in the next 2-3 weeks, we are wondering if we should cancel our trip, which honestly, makes me want to  ! I've never been on a real vacation before, and none of us has ever been to WDW. We are set to go in 42 days, but the thought of having to pack up everything we have, move 1000 miles to a new unfamiliar city, set up residence and change our airline ressies is sooo overwhelming and stressful. We should know by tuesday if we'll be moving, so I would wait for that answer before doing anything, but I want to know what to do if/when it comes to it.

Sorry, I guess I'm rambling and panicky! What I need is information about Trip Insurance and what happens if we cancel so close to our trip date.

Thank you.

How did you purchase your trip? Did you make your own flight reservations with an airline and do a room only reservation? Did you purchase a package? If you did, did you buy trip insurance when you bought the package? If you bought your flights directly from the airline it's pretty easy to cancel/change your reservation. When I had to do it with Continental I cancelled it and then had 1 year to use it (plus a change fee) but every airline is different.

From the times I've bought packages and trips you would need to have purchased the trip insurance when you purchased the package. Please, somone correct me if I am wrong.

as previous poster mentioned we're not sure how you booked this.

if it is a room only then you will only be penalized 1 night deposit.

package:
more than 45 days 0 penalty
7-45 days $100 penalty
inside 7 days $200 penalty.

Did you book the air? If they are non refundable tickets they will most likely charge you a fee per person (alot of times $30-$50 per person) then they will give you a voucher for the remaining amount paid.

If you have non already purchased trip insurance their is a company called access america that is great... they have a plan called the "classic" which you can "add on" what is called a "biz pack" it is an additional $19 per adult and covers you if you have to cancel due to work. Before purchasing anything you should probably call the insurance co. to confirm what specifically is covered...

Good luck:thumbsup2

Ok, I am reading your post as if you already have trip insurance...is that correct?
If so depending on your company you may need to do different things.
If you booked everything with Disney's travel insurance company they use, you can go online to disneyworld.com and download the info that you need. If you used Access America you can contact AAA and they will be able to give you the info for them or you may also be able to find the info online.
If you don't already have travel insurance then you will need to call disney as soon as possible to avoid loosing more money. Unless there is a insurance company out there that will let you purcase this close (I don't know of any) you will be out something. When we used Access America it had to be purchased with in 10 days of making reservations and or deposit. With Disney's I think it can be added up until the 45 days prior to arrival mark...

Even with travel insurance not every reason for canceling is considered valid. You may be out regardless.

With access america you can purchase at any time, but you have to purchase within 10 days of deposit to cover for pre exsisting health coverage.

Hi! Thanks to you all. Sorry for my inclarity-I have about a million things running through my head and I just can't seem to verbalize everything correctly!

Yes, we already have travel insurance. We purchased our package (complete with airfare) through Walt Disney Travel Company, and made the decision to add on the insurance when we made the original order. We are staying on site (CBR) and have the meal plan.

I will go online to disneyworld.com and see what I need to do if we decide to cancel this trip.

Again, thanks so much!

yes, please double check.. I don't believe Disney insurance will cover you for cancellation due to work. However their general cancellations is:

If you purhased as a package-
outside of 45 days - no penalty
45 -7 days- $100 penalty
inside 7 days $200 penalty

If you purchased a "room only"
penalty is first night deposit

Just go have fun it will make you get things done! stop whinning and go.

Can you just change your dates? I had to change our dates last year the day we were supposed to leave. I actually ended up saving money on the package and the flights. The flights were easy to change also. Everything took less then an hour.
