We can't decide where to stay during our March trip to Disneyworld. My husband has a meeting at the Swan and we are bringing our 3 year old and 7 mo old. Is it really worth the extra $130 per night to stay at the Swan versus the value resort Pop Century? I will be taking the kids to the parks by myself at times and wonder if it would be worth the extra $$ to be withing walking distance to Epcot and MGM?

I think it's worth it - although you may discount my opinion when I tell you that I don't have kids. I think the convenience of not dragging kids around on a bus is worth it. I do have Swan experience...we stayed there for the first time over Thanksgiving and loved it. Check these boards for special rates, often there are great offers. Not sure what rate you're paying. We paid $161 a night with an AP discount.

The pool is nice and there are lots of restaurants. And, like you said, you can walk or take the Friendship to Epcot/MGM.

Thanks for the info! We were offered a meeting rate of $228- is that reasonable?

If it's during peak time (some time during Easter) then I think it is a good rate. Regardless, I would call The Swan on your own & ask about different rates. They do have nurses rates or teacher's rates if you happen to be in one of those professions. :D

I think it is worth the extra money to stay in the Boardwalk area. They have a great pool, there are some great dining options on the Boardwalk & being within walking distance of the 2 parks is great.

Good luck with your decision.

I would choose the Epcot area resorts especially if you're trying to take 2 small children to the parks by yourself. We only had 1 toddler and it was so much easier to get to Epcot and MGM pushing the stoller versus trying to take all your gear and the children on a bus. It will make your time there much more enjoyable, and much easier to get the kids back for their naps. You could check on discounts at Yacht or Beach Club or the Boardwalk as they are close to the Swan and Dolphin. Its a great area; lots to do there without even going to a park. ::MinnieMo

Another advantage to staying at the Swan or Dolphin is that Tubby's buffeteria is open 24 hours.
