We will be staying at 2 locations this time out....We are trying CBR and we really wanted to try WL (ate at Whispering Canyon in Nov and loved it). Can anyone reply with their experiences on their vacation when they have stayed at more than one resort??? (Is it more hassle than it's worth??Do you "lose" the day when spending time checking out of one resort and into another...???)

We did a similar thing from Coronado Springs and BoardWalk. With Express Checkout and having WDW transfer your luggage, you'll probably only invest about an hour (at least that was our experience) in the "move."

On the morning of your checkout from Resort "A," simply pack your bags and call Bell Services to pick up your bags. Tell them you want the luggage transferred to Resort "B." Leave your room, go to a park, have fun! Then, later in the day, go to Resort "B," check in and ask to have your luggage delivered to your room. Wait for luggage (they won't deliver without someone being in the room). When it arrives, you're all finished. Easy!

(I'm sure you can modify this according to your needs!) ;)

hi: the last time we split a stay was in 2000. we spent the first 5 days at bwv and the last 2 at wl. as mentioned, we told bell services to transfer the luggage; but we each put a carry-on with a bathing suit in the car. after we left bwv at 11:00, we walked to le cellier for lunch. after lunch, we just drove to wl and checked in. it was a piece of cake.

When DH suggested we split in '97 in order to try WL, I was very much against it. We had a small child that needed naps and it just seemed like a pain. It ended up being so painless and so much fun that we now split every stay.

Some times we arrange it for a non-park day, other times we pack up and change hotels early. Check-in and head off to the parks in time for opening. If the room isn't ready, we check back with the resort until it is ready. We now have 2 little ones who both needed naps and have never run into a problem. We always have a rental car, so we move ourselves.

One word of warning, Disney won't guarantee your bags will be in the new room until 3pm (I think). Therefore, if you aren't moving yourself, I would take a small bag with anything you might need during the afternoon. That being said, rarely have I heard that someones stuff wasn't there when they needed it.

Do it, it's a lot of fun. It makes it feel like two different vacations.

Thanks for the posts, guys....I feel so much better. The only problem I foresee is, if we go to a park and don't come back to "Resort B" till 3PM we won't get adjoining rooms (we will be using 4 std rooms!) and I definitely want them together.

We split our stay in January and I didn't care for it. It was a more trouble than I would prefer to go through. We moved from the Dolphin to the WL and we had to move our own luggage so that may have been a factor. Overall, I found I prefer to stay in one place.

After you call Bell Services to pick up your luggage do you have to wait in the room until they come pick up the bags? If so do they take long to come to your room?
Thanks

It depends on how long you are staying changing resorts can be real hassle if you are only there for a few days at each one. We stay for 4-6 weeks at a time. Have switched to as many as 6 resorts in the past. This summers trip we are remaining at OKW for the majority of it.Resort hopping was fun but it grows old no matter how long you are staying. It can be a hassle repacking, checking out, waiting for bellman, room not ready at next resort, you forgot something you need for the park in a bag that is being transferred, room is ready but bags won't be there for a few hours yet.Well you get the picture.

...everyone's honesty. This is exactly the thing I was most afraid of. Antonia, do you think you had a problem because you were transferring from a "non-Disney" resort to a Disney resort....?

We transfered in May 2000 for the last night and even for just one night it was fabulous. I realize this is not everyone's cup of tea, but we are very light packers and transfer our own stuff, so that's probably the reason it's usually hassle free for us.

Have done it. It can be a bit of a pain packing and unpacking but, it's worth it. The only big problem when u have kids, is if you want to have an afternoon nap you can't - well at least not until after you have checked into your new resort.

If you need adjoining or connecting rooms, I would stick with one resort. Since these aren't guaranteed, you'll be *lucky* if you get your request met. Then you need to try to get *lucky* twice in a row?

We did exactly the split you are doing - from CBR to WL - and had no problems.

That was a few years ago and I wondered how well it would work. I actually prefer to switch sometime through our stay now, as I feel I'm getting more of a vacation!

I'd say it's as easy (or as difficult, depending on your attitude!) as spending a little time hopping between parks in a day.

We always switch resorts and have never had any problem doing this. We always have a car so sometimes we just move our own luggage as they can sometimes be a little slow in tranferring your bags. We own DVC now and usually switch on weekends. I just pack a 2 day bag and that's the only suitcase we open for the weekend stay. That way there's not so much to pack up after. As soon as we leave the first resort we drive over and register at the new resort. If the room's ready, great, if not we just get our new passes and head to the parks. They give you a # to call to check if your room is ready.

We plan to head to WL 1st thing in the AM and planned to make it a "away from a park" day; you know, relaxing by the pool, exploring the new surroundings, that sort of thing, capped off by 6PM ressies at Whispering Canyon. Does anyone know if WL still has the 8PM thing in the lobby where they bring out the assorted animals and the kids get to pet them.....????

Just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water, my husband throws a "Monkey wrench" into the works....!!! Leave it to Universal to send us a video of their "GREAT Parks and Hotels/packages/Etc." Well my DH just HAD to watch it last night, and now he wants to spend some of his vacation there, too (I don't mean one day at a park, I mean staying overnight at either PH or HRH!!! Cha-ching, cha-ching - I smell big bucks on that one!!! How do I convince him we DON'T want to stay there (he feels that the "front-of-the line" perk is worth it alone). You see, my DSis-in-L (along w/a friend) are joining us and they are on a TIGHT budget....It took alot of convincing to get them to switch to WL from CBR....What to do??? Any suggestions????:(

(I thought planning a D vacation was supposed to be FUN!!!!)

lol...Hate to tell ya this, but ya DO wanna stay there....

...now you've piqued my interest. WHY do I wanna stay there and which one (HRH or PH??) Sounds like you've been.....

Kimmar.....I've never stayed in one of the hotels at Universal.....But I've seen the HRH on tv and it looks cool as heck. It looks like it would put any Dis resort to shame. We went to Universal/IOA for the first time last year and it was AWESOME, (We would spend a couple nites there on our next trip if we weren't going with a buncha family members who don't want to leave Dis property, lol), and their Front Of The Line system is unvelievable. If you stay at one of their resorts, you actually GO TO THE FRONT OF EVERY LINE. I'm not talkin' FastPass here, I'm talkin' you actually just walk up and get on the ride!!!!

Our relatives just returned from a stay at PB last week. They loved the hotel but not quite as much as the GF.The express pass was wonderful. The only downside was poor service and overcooked food at the Palm HRH(this can happen anywhere but it happened 2x in a week) Overall they had a great time. We have not stayed onsite but do daytrips.IOA is worth a visit if you like coasters and an escape from the mouse;) for a day or two.:)
