My (turning) 8 year old twins only want a "sleepover" party. I've had a few with my daughter and done lots of crafts, makeovers, dancing, etc. .. but I'm lost with what to do with six 8 year old boys all night?! I don't want to just let them play video games and run around.... every "craft" idea I've had- they seem to think is uncool. They are into Star Wars / Indiana Jones (duh!) so I'm thinking of some kind of archeologist scavenger hunt? Anyone who's tackled this - please give me some ideas!
Thanks in advance!

Ds10 and his friends have been having sleepover parties for a couple of years - let they play video games and run around! Seriously, boys will think up things to do, inside and out.

in all honesty I've never laid on any activities for sleep overs and my daughter who goes to them has never mentioned any activities aside from movie watching. My DD11 prefers to be left to get on with their own thing like dancing around and singing... my job is to stop DH being embarrassing dad

I have a ds10. We recently had a Star Wars house party, and the kids loved sculpting their favorite aliens out of clay. I set them up with a bunch of colors, ds's Star Wars alien dictionary, and plastic knives and toothpicks for tools. I couldn't believe how long they wanted to spend doing it.

Boys do like to just run around. When ds has a sleepover, there are always games of hide n seek, tag, etc. Since it's a birthday party, you can organize it a bit more. Another big hit is having them make/decorate their own cookies, cupcakes, ice cream sundaes, whatever makes the most sense for your party. They like to have contests with launching things, like that football kicking game, anything with a target (and some nerf accessories). The treasure hunt will be a big hit.

The odds are, they are not going to sit quietly to make something that follows a pattern. If you let them do their own thing with clay or legos, you may get your downtime. I would also definitely plan a movie. We set up a "concession stand" with portions of snacks and popcorn, and it is a huge hit.

Whatever you do, the kids will have a great time. One thing I noticed -- they will eat you out of house and home! Seriously, I didn't realize how much boys eat. Be afraid, be very afraid! LOL

We did a sleepover party for my son this summer. We pitched a tent in the backyard. The boys played outside for most of the evening and then around 10 they all took their hand held game systems to the tent and played video games until they fell asleep.

It was the EASIEST birthday party I have ever hosted.

I wouldn't try to plan too much. Let them play a ton of video games. Have a few movies available in case they want to settle down with one. They'll figure out what they want to do. Boys are great that way!

I agree.

If you want to keep things from getting too rowdy, just have a couple movies available. Let them play video games. They usually turn rather zombie so that will be quiet. ;)

Your sons will probably entertain them best with their favorite toys. Set a bed time that is later than a school night but reasonable for you and your household. Then, be ready for breakfast!
