Hi all Hubby and I have been thinking of doing a Adult only stay around October, november this yr, We always normally stay on site at a Disney hotel at what ever one we can afford! we love POP and we have last yr stayed at AKL we have never put much thought into it but somebody suggested a stay at Shades of Green as hubby is RAF, the only thing that puts me off is i LOve the DDP and the Magic hours with the convinience of the bus service!
What i need is any info from people who have done a stay at shades, is it really that much of a good deal, i read it goes on rank????? Hubby is a Cpl so not sure what it comes under in the Us and i found the site confusing, are the Ticket prices a better deal and any other info on the Hotel would be great, like what the place is like etc!
Sorry if this info is anywhere else i have looked but couldnt find anything :(
It has to be a really fab deal and some good savings to put me off leaving the DDP, so that way we could pay out of pocket for meals we wanted not a huge deal if the price is right and the hotel is nice :)

Anyways Thanks for anyhelp!

My dad is USAF retiree. And we go to shades of green all the time. We love it there and the stay and tickets are cheaper. The hotel is "deluxe" accomodations, so on par with the deluxe WDW resorts.
You still get EMH by staying there and there are Shades of Green busses that take you to the TTC and to AK and to DTD. :)

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a PM. :)

One very important question first. Is your husband eligible?

http://www.shadesofgreen.org/eligibility.htm

"Military personnel of foreign nations and their family members when assigned or attached to a U.S. military unit or installation or on U.S. Travel Orders."

I read in another thread that Tinkerpea's DH is going to be deployed to the US.

If that is "assigned or attached" to a relevant "unit or installation", then they'd then be eligible? (but likely not eligible until that posting?)

(RAF) Corporal is NATO grade OR-4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_enlisted_ranks
which apparently maps to E-4. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._u...grades#Equivalent_grades_in_NATO_Armed_Forces

Hi yes i believe we are eligable due to the fact my husband will be posted to the US for 3 yrs next yr (we will all be joining him) Very excited!!!! so we plan to look at the Shades of green hotel when we take our trip this yr to Disney, As I understand it unless we get premission before hand we cant stay until we live in the US!
I just wanted to get as much info from people who have actually stayed their and what its like and what the deals etc are like compared to staying at Disney, Now ive seen that they still get Magic hours im delighted :)

Rooms are much bigger than Disney rooms. Even if you can't do the dining plan, the food there is much cheaper than Disney resort/park food. There is Oktoberfest celebrated one week of October. It's cute and fun-- just beer and dancing, mainly. You can walk down the sidewalk and board the monorail at the Polynesian. It's a nice option if you are elligible. I like a ground floor room that opens to the pool if that's available. A ground floor opening to the Oompah band might be fun, too.

You will love your stay at Shades of Green. My family and I stayed there a few years ago. We loved the size of the rooms. We are a family of five so space is essential. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to come back to this resort and just relax. We really preferred it to Polynesian. And it's really close to Poly so no need to wait for the next bus. You can just walk over to Poly and hop on the monorail. We did that a lot during our visit.
