Help Save Toontown at Walt Disney World!

Dear Disney Fans,
I'm sure that many of you avid Disney fans have heard the news about the Fantasyland expansion project for Walt Disney World. I think the plan is a great idea except for one detail........... the destruction of Mickey's Toontown Fair. As you know, the plans for the Fantasyland expansion include turning Toontown into Pixie Hollow. I do NOT believe that this should be done. Walt Disney once said "I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse." If we destroy Toontown we're losing the most important part of the Magic Kingdom, perhaps the most important part of Walt Disney World itself. We're taking away what puts the "magic" in the Magic Kingdom. Mickey was the start of everything. How could we take away his "home", where you get to see where he lives with all his friends. Children, teenagers, and even adults love visiting Mickey and his friends in their world. If we take that away we'll never be able to live that magic again. We'll never be able to see where Mickey and Minnie live, and we won't get to interact with them in the cartoon world either. Yes, some people may like the fairies, but we have to remember who's most important and who started everything we know as Walt Disney World today. We can't just throw Mickey, Minnie and their pals in some random place in Walt Disney World. Walt deffinately would not approve. They deserve to stay in their town, Toontown, and have their own special piece of the magic to share with gener ations of people to come.

Because of the Fantasyland expansion project I have made this petition. Please sign my at http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/saveWDWtoontown if you think that Mickey's Toontown Fair should remain where it is in the Magic Kingdom and not be replaced by Pixie Hollow. I hope to accumulate many signatures and send this petition to Bob Iger and the Disney Imagineers. I really appreciate it and I truely belive that we can save Toontown!

Toontown is not by any means the most important part of the MK or WDW. You have no idea what Walt would approve or disapprove of. Neither do I, but that land was done on the cheap. Do you think Walt would have liked that?

It was meant to be temporary, the theme was so-so to bad, and as much as I love the Mickey and Minnie houses, I won't miss them.

I don't consider it to be the most magical part of WDW, I leave that to the delicately, intricately crafted attractions and environments.

It's great that you're so passionate, but I am so glad to see it go.

The Imagineers ARE working a way for Mickey and the gang's meet n greets, you know.

There is a real and permanent TownTown in Disneyland.

I have mixed feelings - Toontown was adorable when my kids were toddlers, but we didn't even venture there on our last few visits now that they're older. It wasn't part of the original park and always seemed more commercial and out of place to me, somehow. I guess the Pixies/Princesses that are replacing it aren't very different, huh? On the other hand, I did like Mickey and Minnie's houses when we visited them, but they were looking a little shabby from all the visitors, especially the destructive ones who tried to steal bits and pieces, lol.

The boat/sprinkler was a nice break from lines. My kids loved the Barnstormer and insist that their roller-coaster hating mother will go on it next time. (Yeah, like that'll happen.) They could build ten Dumbos and they still won't get me back on that thing. I hated riding it and now I refuse completely.

Maybe when Disney announces more about HOW the Mickey and Minnie meet-and-greet will be handled without Toontown, resistance might drop a bit.

I'll consider your petition request over the next few days. Maybe I'll sign, even if it won't change the company's mind. They've already announced the plans, so your timing puts your effort at a disadvantage.

How is ToonTown the most magical part of Magic Kingdom? It wasn't even opened until about 15 years after the Magic Kingdom first opened.

It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." and "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." If destroying Toontown (which as said, was only meant to be temporary) is needed to expand Fantasyland, then I don't mind. Went through on our last visit, and there wasn't really much that interested me. I'm really looking forward to these new changes. They're going to be amazing.

Excellent post, George, and completely true.

Toontown Fair is stale... I hate to say it, but it never got any love, not even whilst it was being created. The Barnstormer was really the only unique thing about it, aside from circus tents and county fair stuff (why a county fair? I'll never know), and the ride system is staying and being rethemed.

Everything else was pretty much reproduced from the slightly more appropriate Toontown in DL.

Toontown has been around longer than everyone on this board. Funny how everyone is glad to see this go but was upset to see the stupid EPCOT on the ball to go.
