My 5 yr old Dell crashed for good back in February.... I wanted a Mac but couldn't afford it. Ended up with an HP Pavilion that was supposed to be good w/ photos/editing.... my first experience with Windows Vista as well since I always had Windows Xp.....

Anyway, in the past, I never had any problem uploading photos from either Picture Project or the Dell photo studio to Kodakgallery, shutterfly, snapfish, or even wal-mart.....

The first few times I did it w/ the new computer... no problem. Then I started having difficulty getting the photos to go through-some from a batch would go through, but others would not.... "Upload failed" is what I get.... doesn't matter which photo store I send them to-it won't work :o( (Oh, and that's from trying to obtain them from either the harddrive or then Picture Project or the Windows Photo editor)

Now... NOTHING goes through. Even photos that were previously accepted will not go through

I backed everything up onto CD's and then redownloaded them into Picture Project with no such luck in uploading them to a site :sad2:

Facebook and photobucket won't accept them anymore either....

They are in JPEG format. The few I did retouch are still in the RGB format... but untouched ones are not being accepted anyway....

HELP! I've got hundreds of photos of my girls that I don't want to lose!!!! I appreciate any help you can offer.... oh, and if you can use layman's terms as I'm not a computer whiz.... :rotfl: :rotfl:

i know a lot of print places request srgb rather than rgb for printing...don't know if that would have anything to do with it or not.
i have an hp and vista. after editing i just save them in the windows pictures folder and download from there. i download jpgs and haven't' had a problem with any place.
wondering if you are downloading large batches could it just be timing out somehow? maybe check and make sure you are uploading correct sizes, formats and color spaces. if not i'd email the place you want to download to and ask them for ideas. just would seem reasonable to me that if you can't upload to any site it is something with the format of the photos. are you sure you aren't saving as jpg 2000 or something like that? i know if i don't convert to 8 bit it won't save to jpg but the jpg 2000 instead

RGB is a color mode, sRGB is a color gamut. Two different topics.

OP it sounds like something is possibly wrong with Java on your computer since many sites utilize that to create an upload interface. Try reinstalling the java platform.

actually rgb is a color model, srgb and adobe rgb are color spaces, the gamut is part of what determines which color space, the range of colors in the space if you really want to nit pick words.
however that doesn't change the fact that some printers ie mpix, only allow srgb.
