We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary in December, after honeymooning at WL and then first year we rented points at OKW. We wanted to rent points again but everything is booked except SSR and that just doesnt appeal at all. So, I booked free dining at POR, but I waited too long and king bed was booked so all that was left was the higher water view option. I've read that POR is very romantic which is great, I'm just worried about how big and spread out it is. We like being close to the main building/pool/recreation, and I'm worried we'll be far away. I stayed a few times at CBR as a child and dont remember alot, but it would be about $300 cheaper to stay there in a king sized bed room. I'm going back and forth about switching, I just don't know.

I know they are very different themed resorts, I don't know if one appeals more over the other. We just want a relaxing, fun trip. We do enjoy spending time at our resort, we usually spend one whole day just swimming, biking, etc. Any advice??

I looove CBR. If you enjoy time at the resort, this one has lots to offer. Nice pool and hot tub, pretty beach with hammocks, plenty of walking paths, beautiful island, and you can rent surrey bikes or boats.
Dont worry about it being spread out...the views while walking are gorgeous, and even taking kids, never minded the walks when we were across the bridge.

Well, CBR is a lovely resort and if the king bed matters and you save $300 it seems like a really good option. On the other hand POR has just been refurbished and all the rooms have brand new queen beds, new carpets and paint. So a tough choice. If you have a car rental, then busing won't matter, but if you don't, then the boat at POR that goes to DTD is a huge plus since there are some great restaurants (not to mention shopping) at DTD. If it were me, I think I would save the $300 and go CBR. Have fun deciding.

We really liked cbr. I have been to POR but not stayed there but thought it looked really nice. Both resorts are very spread out. They basically have the same amenities except POR does offer boat service to DTD. We stayed in the furthest building from the main pool and food court at cbr and it was a 7-10 minute maximum walk. The pools are gorgeous at cbr. I would consider looking at some you tube videos of both resorts and getting a feel for what they offer and see if one suits you more than the other.

Flip a coin! They are equal!

The atmosphere at POR seems a bit "prettier". They have horse-drawn carriage rides & the boat to Downtown Disney. The "choose your own pasta" at the food court is a great experience - watching it being cooked as well as eating it!

For an anniversary - I can see POR as the better choice.

Have a wonderful anniversary trip! :thumbsup2

Thanks guys. I'm really trying to just get excited about POR, as my husband loves the boat rides so that's a big plus. It is pretty, just trying to justify the extra money but I think I'm just going to keep trying to downgrade from our water view because it really doesn't matter to us!

I also wanted to stay at POR, but we decided to go with the POFrench Quarter because they said the layout is smaller with only 1 bus stop. I wanted the POR because of the bigger food court and bigger arcade for my kid, but I figured we could walk to the POR in 10 minutes and enjoy those amenities. We got the hotel and ticket package with free dining for 1800 something. My first splurge on an onsite property because of the free dining from dec. 15 to 20th. The POF has a higher guest rating than POR because it's smaller and quieter I guess so I chose it. It also has a higher rating on Trip Advisor so that was my deciding factor along with POFQ having the first bus stop if it shares a bus with POR. We don't really need water view and don't mind our parking lot view since we will be in the parks on rides and doing ADR's for the first time. That will take up most of our time, esp dinner times at the table service. I doubt we will spend much time in the hotel, just to sleep. Maybe one of the 6 days, after a day at Animal Kingdom and dinner at Boma, we'll hang out at the hotel.

We love CBR! DH and myself stayed here for our honeymoon in 2006 and have been back 3x since. Love the Caribbean atmosphere, landscaping, music, beaches. Just so romantic!

I do love POR but I only choose it over CBR b/c of the queen beds. Since you want a king room and will be guaranteed one at CBR I'd just book there and save the $$. CBR is big and spread out though so if that's a concern I'd definitely keep that in mind. The grounds are lush and beautiful though

Stayed at both, absolutely loved POR! You'll probably find an even split of opinions. POR "clicked" with us at lot more than CBR did. The POR food court is better, with seemingly 'endless' pasta. The boat to Downtown Disney is a nice touch. 2 wks ago we enjoyed our Royal Room which gets a 10 out of 10 for theming. There are pirate themed rooms at CBR but reports are the beds are uncomfy.

Regardless of which one you stay at, visit the other resort for lunch or dinner and give it a look see.

Have stayed at CBR (and loved it) but never at POR. I would say like many on the board, that its probably about what you like. For some, the most romantic getaway they can think of is sitting on a beach looking at the water (which you can do at CBR).

The spread out layout of CBR was never a problem for us. We stayed in Aruba. Probably a 7-10 minute walk to OPR and the food court. Bus service was right behind Aruba and a 2-3 minute walk from anywhere in Aruba.

My thoughts exactly. I have stayed at both and love both. But a king bed and $300 gets my vote. Cbr is spread out too, but we find it very doable and LOVE the way all sections have their own quiet pool.

You really can't go wrong!

King bed room is a dream at either resort I can get it.

I have a queen bed at home with three cats now who love to sleep with me. At one point, it was four.

A king bed on vacation is like heaven to me (forgive me Abby, Desi, Gracie, and Jack), but it takes me one night to realize I have more than eight inches of the edge of the bed!!!!

We have stayed at both. We like POR more the CBR. At CBR we were in the last building, Trinidad, it was a long walk to the food court main pool. To tell you how big the resort is, they have an internal bus that picks up at each bus stop to take guest to and from the main building. At POR, we enjoyed that we could walk or ride the boat to POFQ and eat at both food courts. They only serve the famous beignets at POFQ. We really enjoy Boatwrights at POR. You can rent the surrey bikes at POR. The boat to DTD was a huge plus.
