Help please!!

Hi, we're currently stuck at Ebbsfleet waiting to see of if we can get to Disney as they're not letting any trains into France atm because of the snow.
I just wondered if anyone had had this happen before and they couldn't travel on the day were meant to and what Disney did? Would they change our booking and let us stay another day if we can't go till tomorrow or would they cancel our hotel as we can't check in on time?? Thanks for any help!
 
Is there no one working for Disney on the train or at the station who could help :confused3

If there aren't I'd be phoning the Disney reservation line to ask them as you are not going to be alone

The tunnel is closed on our side and I don't think it will be opening anytime soon today as even if it did there are no trains (Eurostar or TGV) running further than Lille in Northern France.

Disney have told me not to leave the station until I know it's definitely cancelled & then they can sort something out.
So that's me, dh & our 7 children waiting at Ebbsfleet for the day! Great fun, not!!

We are in the same situation but are at DLP. Making arrangements to extend our room booking by an extra night just in case.
 
Hope you get to travel soon, also it might be a good idea to contact your travel insurance as you maybe able to claim something back.

Oh yes, good thinking with the travel insurance :thumbsup2 , in the meantime sending you all the pixie dust I can and hoping things start moving soon. Is it the DLH you're going to? Hopefully you'll have a wonderful stay which will help erase this horrible experience from your memory, and it sounds as though you've picked the right hotel if the weather's awful. Not too far to walk each day in the snow. Fingers crossed for you.

We are now back home :( There was no chance of us getting there today so when Eurostar eventually cancelled the trains I phoned Disney back and have changed our booking to June.
Unfortunately though not for the DLH, we had to choose something of equal value or higher and pay the difference and dlh was coming out so much more than what we paid so we just couldn't do it. Eventually after phoning the children's schools to check dates of exams etc and the nice Eurostar lady letting me use her computer to compare prices & dates, we got a date we could do and are going for 5nights/6 days to the sequoia lodge. The children are all upset that we're not there now but in a way I'm glad we will be having a warm trip! And also we are on the direct Eurostar instead of indirect as we usually do because it's usually too expensive when we book quite last minute, so that's a bonus too!

I'm sorry for you all :( It's hard to have done all the preparation and everyone ready and excited about going for it to be cancelled.

I am so sorry the weather didn't cooperate and this has happened. I hope your trip in June is warm and wonderful.

I feel so sorry for you, I can't imagine how hard it must be having the kids so excited about going and then having this happen. :hug:

At least you've been able to rearrange the trip and will have a nice (hopefully warm) trip to go on! :cloud9:
 
I'm so sorry that you didn't make it, I've only ever had a 1 day delay and that was bad enough.

Hope you can start to look forward to your June trip, I'm sure it will be nicer in the warm weather.
We should've been on our way to DLP tomorrow but I had to delay our plans because of DS's college, I'm kind of glad we did now I'd hate to be in your position, I'm so disappointed for you. x
 
So sorry you had to cancel. That happened to us a couple of years ago when the snow was really bad. We were just about to board our flight when they shut our airport. At first disney said we would just need to claim on our insurance but after a few emails, ( after mumtobelle posting on here that disney had rearranged her trip and passing on details to me) we managed to re-arrange.
My DS was 3 at the time and was pretty upset, he still thinks planes can't fly in the snow!

And very impressed you have rescheduled it so quickly and easily. The direct Eurostar from DLP to London was cancelled today so lots of guests stranded at DLP. Luckily the resort is quiet today so the hotels were able to accommodate everyone.

City Hall were doing a wonderful job of assisting guests and the hotel reservations department opens two hours earlier to manage the increase in calls.

Wonder if we can get hone tomorrow as scheduled?
 
Oh dear - sorry to hear that you had to reschedule the trip! :( But hopefully the weather in June will be nice and sunny!
 
Really feel for your disappointment but you sound very positive about it and at least from the date you would have arrived back and been feeling sad that it was all over you will now have a nearby trip to look forward to! Hopefully with much nicer weather too. :goodvibes
 
So sorry to hear that you have had to postpone your trip, how are the kids taking it? Just think in June it will be much warmer and therefore hopefully even more enjoyable, I really feel for you today...I know I would be sooooo disappointed, and my kids would be devastated.
Which hotel have you booked this time? On the plus side you get to plan all over again, I love the planning bit...sometimes almost as much as the holiday:) . I think you should send an email nearer the time reminding DLRP that this is your rescheduled trip after unavoidable problems with travel, and maybe they will put something nice in your room:goodvibes

Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages. It was devastating yesterday to be told we couldn't travel and couldn't go, the poor children were so upset, especially my 9 yr old daughter. They are coming round to it though as I've been trying to find lots of positives about a June trip, even if I really wish we'd been there now in the DLH! But another positive about being at home now, my 5 yr old has had a nasty high temp, viral sore throat thing since sat (doctor said she was still fine to travel just keep he dosed up on nurofen & calpol) and this morning my 22 month old has got it too, wouldn't have been fun being at disney with 2 of them ill.
We got it sorted so quickly as I wouldn't leave there till it was all sorted as I didn't want the stress of having to sort it all when I got home & I wanted the children to know we were still going. I was very impressed with the service we got from 2 of the 3 people I spoke to at disney reservations, the other, well, you would've thought I was asking him to pay for my trip lol.
Jonjo - I hope you manage to get back ok today, I know some services have been cancelled today and others are running with 2hr delays.
