Hello! I'm going to book a new trip with my husband, 2 adult children and their girlfriends. We will have 3 separate rooms (either All Stars or Pop) I will be paying for hotel and tickets. I have an existing MDE account with my kids (so 4 of us).

I don't know if I should add the girls onto my account and give everyone my password? Is it possible to have separate credit cards on 1 account? (so they pay for their own food, souvenirs, $LL)

Or should my adult children make their own account with their girlfriend and we connect that way. If I buy memory maker, will it work with their magic bands also?

Thank you 😊 I’m assuming the magic bands aren’t transferable to their new account, but that’s not a big deal

For my 18 and 16 yo boys this summer, I made them get their own accts after managing theirs for years. I wanted them to be able to be able to go off and be able to mobile order, book rides with genie+ (they never did), etc. they didn’t want their MBs and preferred a key card. They downloaded the MDE app, entered their email, and sent me an invite to share. There was something tricky about the 16yo initially but we finally got his to work. I still basically managed everything, but they had the option to be independent. And I would definitely do that for adult children and GF/BFs.

If you link their profiles in your MDE to them in their own MDE, their MBs, tickets, and anything else linked to them in your MDE will transfer over to them in their new MDE accounts. And if they link to you and other members of the party in their F&F lists, everyone will be able to book a VQ, Genie+LL, etc. for everyone else if desired.

If y'all plan on using magicbands for purchases of food/drink/merch in the park, you can attach different credit cards to each magicband when you check in to your hotel, at the front desk. CMs have always been able to do this for group friend trips that I have done with my friends. It'll take them a minute to set up, but it's pretty seamless!

Just as @aerxo17 said...have the significant others set up their credit cards to their magic bands when you check in. It's easy peasy. When my friend and I traveled together in January and stayed at Pop we did this. Other Dis folks urged us to do a "practice" purchase to make sure each of our credit cards was connected correctly to our magic bands. As soon as we checked in, we made a quick "practice" purchase (my friend purchased a bottle of water and I purchased a refillable mug at the Pop gift shop) and then checked with the front desk. We had CMs check our accounts to make sure each of our purchases were tracking to the right credit card. Once we did the check, we knew the credit cards were set up correctly and we went on our way.

Also, I had my DH and DSs make their own MDE accounts for our trip in March. I've managed all of them for years and they have just logged on to my account. We had a few hiccups in getting them their own MDE accounts and getting them linked to my account. So, I had to call WDW to get it straightened out. The first CM on the phone had to send me to the IT number. But, once I got connected to the IT department, they were able to straighten everything out. Now each member of the family has their own account and we are all linked. Everyone can see our reservations and tickets for our March trip.

Have a magical time on your trip, OP!
