help please! days suiets at old town

Magic Castle Inn and Suites www.magicorlando.com
Newly renovated (I stayed there in 2001 and 2003 before the reno so it must be even better now)

Great rates, we had a king, a fold out and fridge and micro for $33 a night but you could ask about connecting rooms for larger family. Free shuttle to WDW but you would have to take the bus to Universal.

But I think you would be better to get a condo near a Lynx bus route and do as the locals do...Public transportation.

I'm also confused by the original post. It sounds like they have to get the car and that's why they couldn't keep the condo. But then why is the shuttle necessary?

Stahshee, can you help clarify?

It sounded like she cancelled her condo reservation because she would have needed a car and the cost to insure the car would be an extra $500 because she isn't covered by insurance.

We stayed there for one night a few years ago and would probably not go back. The thing I remember most is that they wanted to charge you extra for EVERYTHING. It was very basic and not all that clean.

Someone mentioned Homewood Suites. They are my favorite hotel chain and often have some decent deals. I'd definitely pay an extra $20 per day to stay there over the Days Inn. Breakfast alone would cost that much.

JMHO.

We stayed there last month for 1 night and that was enough! My husband is still laughing at my reaction to this place.I am usually very easy to please.seriously,I don't get worked up about a little dirt or even a bug or two,but this place (the whole neighborhood actually is just gross!) Broken sign out front, dirty lobby, moldy tub, lights and clock not working, etc. Also most of the guests were really scary looking.I really don't think you could do much worse. If you have kids, please don't stay here.I usually stay offsite but in your case I would book a value onsite and not have to worry about transportation at all.I don't know how many times you've been to Disney, but there is sooo much to do and you won't see half of it in 8 days.BTW relying on offsite transportation is extremely stressful.I definitely would not stay offsite without a rental. Didn't mean to ramble, but I would really change my plans if I were you, even if it mean :wizard: t less days of vacation to be able to stay onsite.

ok we are on an even tighter budget. i had to cancel the condo because we have to rent a car that will cost anothor 500 plus( we have no car insure) so i had to find a hotel that will sleep all of us(6) for a budget price with transportation. I do not need the best but i need a place to sleep and swim please tell me something good about this place. I AM STRESSED

i would say do not stay there, check out skauction.com, great rates, i stayed at this location, it was ok but i would never stay there again.
good luck

To the OP: There is a Comfort Suites Universal on Major Blvd. On the Hotel Kingdom website, it says that it is at the entrance to Universal and that you cna walk to the entrance, so no shuttle would be needed. The total for 8/29 - 9/7 is $757.39 plus tax, which would put you a little over your $800 budget. However, they offer a free breakfast each morning, so you would save some $$ there. If you're only going to Disney for a day, you could take the trolley down I-Drive to somewhere that you could catch the Lynx bus that would take you to the TTC.

HTH!

We had reservations at this days inn a couple weeks ago for 5 nights. It just so happened mt dad took a golf trip to Orlando a week before we were to leave.I asked him to run by and check the place out for me which he did. My dad is a frugal traveler and he said no way.So I immediately changed my reservations to Seralago resort which was wonderful for $59 a night. I am glad we did days is very run down

Straitlover, have you ever tried this method of travelling from I-Drive to disney. I used it a couple of times on my one and only visit, but the waits were terrible. You could be waiting half an hour or more for the lynx bus, and even then you only arrive at the TTC, so you are faced with even more journey time to your chosen park. I agree it's the only real budget option, but it really can eat into your vaction time.

No. I just suggested it because the OP stated they were on a tight budget. Personally, I'd scrimp somewhere in my budget at home and come up w/ the money for a cab/shuttle/towncar/one day car rental.

I looked up the Comfort Suites I mentioned on the Choice Hotels website for more info. It says they have a free shuttle to Universal and a paid shuttle to WDW (no mention of the price).

I stayed at the Days Inn next door for one night and that was enough for me! The floor was filthy, the TV was broken and the towels were so thin you could see through them. I also stayed at the Econolodge Maingate a couple years later on a poor Priceline bid. It really wasn't much better :(. I would strongly discourage anyone from staying at either one of these resorts.

I think the OP would be fine with the Buena Vista Suites (http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/bvsuites/index.htm. At just $89 per night it fits within her price point, has 3 beds, free American breakfast and a free shuttle to the Disney parks. She'll have to get to Universal some other way, but maybe she can rent a car for her Universal days. You'll save enough on feeding 6 people every morning for free to afford the taxi or car rental ;).
