Hi everyone! I'm new to this board and was hoping to get a few tips :]

Fiance and I are taking part 1 of our honeymoon in September of next year. We are flying to WDW/Universal from Washington State and I'm wondering what you think would be best if price weren't an object (though we would love to save some money lol).

Fiance has never been to WDW or Universal and is super excited. We are both huge Disney fans. We are leaving for a Carnival cruise on Saturday the 9th and the wedding is the week before on Saturday the 2nd. SO, we are wondering-would it be easier/more beneficial/less stressful to fly out the next day on Sunday the 3rd and experience 5 full days (mon-fri) of Disney/Universal? Or should we relax a bit and do 4 days-3 for Disney, 1 for Universal and save ourselves the stress of flying right after wedding. I've been to WDW before but not to Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, or Blizzard Beach. I'm kind of wondering which itinerary would be best if we did Disney parks the first few days then Universal on Friday.

We are thinking of staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the duration of the trip as well, but are open to other suggestions!

Basically, any tips are appreciated. We are not big on shows, but may want to do one or two. We are more in it for the animals and the rides. Not sure if Blizzard Beach/Typhoon Lagoon are worth it or if it would be okay to skip them?

Thank you!

AK is great but I personally think only if you stay Savannah view. September the weather will still be warm I I think the water parks would be great, our family prefers TL. I say fly out and do 5 days. You can sleep on the plane (we are in Oregon) so you have some time then.

Congratulations by the way!

Congratulations!

Weddings are exhausting, so I can see your point about not pushing it. That said, it's also kind of nice to get away and have more time/a more leisurely feel to your trip. I would probably choose to fly out on Sunday, but not so early that it adds to your stress. I realize the time difference works against you, but a late morning or early afternoon flight might be do-able.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is lovely. I agree with the other poster - Savannah view is really neat if you like animals. Otherwise, I would say it might not be worth it to stay there. Also, AKL is pretty far from everything other than Animal Kingdom, which means long bus rides.

We really enjoy most Disney resorts. Something like the Boardwalk or a monorail loop hotel can be really convenient to parks and dining. If you're looking to save a little, Port Orleans is also beautiful, significantly less than the deluxes, and offers a nice boat ride to Disney Springs.

I like to stay in one resort if possible, but moving over to a Universal resort for that last night has some advantages - early entry to Harry Potter, unlimited express pass (for the three deluxe hotels), etc. and you get the advantages for the day you check in and the day you check out. So, potentially, you could move over Friday morning and still use the perks for your one day.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Remember to build in relaxation time at the resort and maybe a romantic dinner or two -- and you should be all set!
