My husband has a confernce in April at the swan and dolphin hotel. Looks like the confence is M, T, and W. We are coming from the NE and were thinking of all going down. Leaving Sunday and returning Sat or Sun. The prices at this resort are 220 a night! Could we easily change to a differnet hotel...a dis hotel? could we still get ME to get home and add on dining? I even thought of having my mom meet us and switch to Shdes of green for the cheap food and discounted park tickets...but we will be there before her arrival...so I am thinking a dis resort may be best...loking for the cheapest options! How is the SWAN? Any input is appreciated!

Changing to a different hotel on your husband's company dime is up to his company.

DH is staying at the JW Marriott in November. The company won't let him stay elsewhere at their expense as the conference is being held there.

However, they will reimburse him the cost of an airline ticket, even if he chooses to drive, so our gas is covered.

I would expect that your DH would need to stay at the conference center during the conference but what you could do is move to a value resort for the rest of the week. It would be a separate reservation and I see no reason why you could not add the DDP. Most disney resorts will even move your luggage for you but since S&D are not WDW owned not sure if they would do that or not. Our next trip is our first experience with ME so am not sure on that note.

I have stayed at the Swan for a conference before and it's very nice. I assume you would stay there while the company was paying, and then switch when it is over. The Swan has a very nice pool and beach area. You can use restaurant.com to buy dinner certificates for several of the restaurants - including the Garden Grove which has character dining. They also have an unlimited use mug you can buy while you stay there. The Swan is walking distance to the Boardwalk area and you can take a boat over to Epcot.
When staying at the Swan, we bought half-day tickets from the front desk for $40. That allows you to enter any park after 4 pm. I'm sure you will like the swan. Maybe you can upgrade to a suite which has a foldout couch, separate seating and dining table.
