This may come as a huge shock for you veterans but I have finally booked our very first WDW Vacation! This will be a first time for myself (28), myparents (early 50's), DS,DD. My SO is the only one of us who has ever seen the mouse! We have booked 6 nights at SSR. Wanted BWV but was already booked for 10/4! Anyone have any great tips/suggestions for us to enjoy our first trip with such a variety of family?
BTW this site is amazing I have already learned so much! Thanks:woohoo:

:)I was 22 when I first went to Disney - you are NEVER too old to go! :)

Lots of reading about the parks, the resorts, transportation, etc. will help you in planning a great trip!

I agree...this site is a good one!

Welcome to the Dis!! I think SSR is a beautiful resort and your family will enjoy it!

Here are some things to think about:

* figure out what you all want to do together...what rides you want to do together, meals, etc.

* if you and SO want the grandparents to watch the kids for an adults night out, make sure to plan it well in advance.

* plan for time as a group, time as a family unit...expect the grandparents may want some one on one time and time for you and SO

* don't forget down time....the pool at SSR is great, there is a spa there too and you are steps away from DTD as well

You will have a great time at WDW and a lot of fun planning as well!

Check out the links at the top of this page and allears.net ...there is a wealth of information in both places.

Welcome to Dis!

I suggest doing a little bit of research. This site, allearsnet, and Unoffical Guide are great resources. I don't recommend going all commando - just get an idea of what you want to do.

Make some ADRs. Table service restaurants are a great way to get away from the crowds. The resources listed above are also great places to find restaurants you'd like to dine at. Depending on the ages of your children, you might consider booking a character meal. You can make ADRs up to 90 days in advance, and the further in advance you make them, the better chance you have of getting what you want.

Plan to rest. Don't try to do it all. When you're getting tired, hot, and cranky, head back to the resort to take a nap and swim. You don't want to tire yourself out too early in the vacation.

Take advantage of early EMH at MK. You can do so much more in the first hour than you can in the last three. If you're going to do EMH, early MK is the way to go. (AK emh is a waste - avoid AK on early emh days)

And of course.... have fun! It's your first time at WDW! Feel free to act like a kid. Try new things. This is a vacation you'll remember for life.
