I'm trying to decide on our one, adults only dinner, and I've read consistently wonderful reviews from everyone here about:

California Grill
Artiste Point
Marrakesh
Chef's de France
Jiko's

I've looked at the menus for each - they all sound divine. I'd like to have a memorable, delicious meal in a venue that would give us 2 hours of uninterrupted, sweet-talkin', adult conversation (even if it is about the kids :D ).

And if you don't mind taking it a step further --- I'm thinking of taking our girls to Neverneverland at the Poly (b/c it sounds so fun!!!) while we have dinner --- We'll be staying at AKL for this part of the trip, and if we rely on Disney transportation, does that knock any of these out of the running if we have a 3, maybe 4 hour window?

Since we're staying at AKL, eating at Jiko's and taking the girls to Simba's would probably be the easiest, but would Simba's be as fun as Neverland?

Which one should we pick?

Thanks for your advice...sorry this is so complicated!

we would pick either artist point since we do love the lodge or california grill. on the plus side, fireworks can be seen from california grill if planned right. we have yet to dine at CG(doing so in december),but have enjoyed several meals at AP. for a quiet, romantic meal, definitely AP; i have read many posts saying how noisy CG can be! i can not help w/the child care. sorry. happy dining!!:p

We really love dining at Citricos at the GF.

It's exactly what an elegant, adult's only night out is suppose to be. It's quiet and the food is incredibly great, we enjoyed the wine pairings with our meal there last May and it was not overly crowded.

Your DD's still can enjoy the Neverland club - it's right next door! and it would be a nice romantic walk back to the Poly after dinner past the wedding pavilion and through the torchlit grounds to collect them.

Jiko is also a great choice - and got two thumbs up from a couple of 4 year old boys we swam with at the AKL pool one day. They were trying to talk their mom's into letting them go back for another night!

Enjoy your trip!

For a nice, quiet, adult oriented meal we would choose Jiko's or Artist's Point. California Grill can be quite hustly, bustly and extremely noisy. We really enjoy Marrakesh, but not for a nice, quiet, romantic dinner.
I can't help with the childcare as our children are grown.
Whichever you decide.....Enjoy!

Assuming you've done your research and those are the only places you are considering, then I'd opt for Jiko's. AP would be my second choice. The other three -while fine restaurants-are usually noisy and don't have that "romantic" atmosphere that you are looking for. Jiko's does have that advantage of being close--

If I now may offer 4 alternatives?
Victoria and Alberts is the premier spot, but VERY expensive.
Citrico's and Palio are both "adult friendly" and on the romantic side. And Bistro D' Paris is a bit more quiet and romantic than it's downstairs neighbor, Chef's D France.

Can't help with the kids situation and since we rent a car, not able to help with transportation either---:(

Thank you for your thoughtful recommendations! I'd looked at menus for many of the standout restaurants, tho Palio & Citrico's somehow escaped me!!! I'm going to look for more reviews. And Artiste Point has so many great reviews - I just need to familiarize myself w/ the transporation issues. V&A, sadly, will not be within budget for this trip, tho it looks awesome.

Cheers!

We had a wonderfully quiet dinner in the wine room at the california grill. It only has a few tables and is completly closed off from the rest of the restaurant...it's on the epcot side so you won't be able to see the fireworks form MK but if you plan it right....illuminations from high above.

You can't go wrong with Jiko, but I also love Citrico and the Flying Fish on the Boardwalk!:smooth:
