Help Picking Resort--Solo Trip

Hello! I am going back to Disney again in November to participate in the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. I am undecided on where do stay and could use your input!

--43 year old mom who gets to go on a solo trip!
--Going to run/walk the 10K and the half marathon
--Will go to Epcot race party on Sunday night
--Would like to visit Disney Springs for shopping
--Possibly get a spa treatment???
--Visit MK and AK
--Enjoy Food & Wine, visiting once would be enough though
--Open to repeating a resort or trying something new (past resorts in signature line)
--Want to stay on property this time; open to all resort categories
--Need a few options because I will want to use an AP or other discount
--Favorite resort is Ft. Wilderness in our RV, but that is not an option this time!

Treat yourself to the Grand Floridian. It's convenient to MK and Epcot due to the monorail, and it has a spa.

Poly would be convenient to both MK and Epcot and it has been renovated recently so looks terrific. Wilderness Lodge is great - take watercraft MK or you can take it Contemporary and hop on monorail to Epcot. AK will be a little bit of a trek but not too bad. Sounds like a fun trip! I hear a lot of people use Uber to get to Disney Springs if you don't want to take the bus.

If I was on a solo trip, I would probably stay value (POP or Movies) just because I can tend to be cheap when it's just me. My thought would be the money you saved on the room you could pay for the spa treatments and extras. Honestly, you are the only one that will be able to make the decision. It looks like you have stayed at a few properties, so you know what you like.

I would probably stay at the Poly for easy monorail access to both Epcot and MK, plus walking distance to the spa at the GF. The BC is a nice option as well, but you were there more recently, so I would go with the Poly.

Boardwalk with boardwalk view. You can sit out on your patio and watch the action down below, walk to Epcot (and Studios) there is monorail access to MK (through Epcot). There is a spa at the Yacht Club and the Swan (Dolphin) both are a really nice short walk.

I would go with either the BWI or the Poly. Hope you have a great time!

Coronado Springs, even with the construction. Most centrally located. If you were going to Food & Wine multiple times, I'd say Beach Club.

I take at least one solo trip a year, 60 year old woman. I tend to do split stays with the first few nights at a moderate then I move over to an Epcot deluxe. I use the moderate days to do AK and MK since I would have to take a bus to those anyway. I tend to end up just about every night at Epcot, especially during F&W. It makes sense to me to do those two nights at a moderate since I arrive around 2 and don't want to pay deluxe prices for a half day and the whole bus to AK no matter where you stay just makes sense with a moderate as well.

I've gone on solo trips twice and stayed at the Pop Century. Way more than enough room. They have a Pool Bar...oh yes!! Never any problems.

Have stayed solo GF/WL/BC and BWI. Loved WL solo, felt relaxing away from the parks, as you love FT Wilderness maybe WL is a good alternative? My second favourite is BC, I really enjoy the beachy theme and despite a busy lobby there's some quiet places to relax, as well of course as being right next to Epcot and a boat ride away from the studios. My old favourite for a solo trip was BWI but as the prices are higher than YC/BC for what really are 3 equal resorts I now won't pay to stay at BWI if the BC is available.

What is your budget? That is the first question I ask. How much time will you spend at the resort?

I would probably choose the BC/YC if my budget allowed, and if I was going to spend enough time at the resort to justify the cost.

If not, I would choose a moderate, and probably would lean towards POFQ.

I was going to say the same thing! Hard to justify Disney rates for just me; if it's a couples or family trip that's different.

But, only you know what you really want! I was thrilled with the bus service at Pop, and the room is spacious enough for one or two people (I did 2 nights with my 2 kids last year, and that was, well, tight, but we didn't even unpack).

I agree on the fact that the money you'd save you could use on treats at F&W or a spa treatment. And you can use Uber to get around from one resort to another as well.

I have stayed at all levels of Disney resort, mostly solo trips. I would pick whatever resort you want to stay in. You know your budget, and whether you want to splurge on the hotel, or scrimp on the hotel so you can splurge on other things. There is transportation to the races provided at all the resorts, so that wouldn't be a consideration really.

If you are going to be out in the parks a lot, when you aren't running, then a moderate or value may make the most sense for the budget. Either the PO resorts or Pop would be a good choice, or maybe CSR for their extra amenities due to their convention business. You could even stay in a FW Cabin, since you like FW in general. If you decide to splurge and go deluxe, I would second the idea of WL due to the wilderness theming. Since you didn't sound like you wanted to spend a lot of time at Epcot, I'm not sure an Epcot resort would be the best choice (although that's where we stay when participating in RunDisney events).

Make a list of the amenities you need to make your vacation special and then narrow down the choices using your list. It should become apparent pretty quickly which resorts are on your short list, and then just pick the one that appeals to you the most. Just because you are going solo doesn't mean you should have to compromise on your resort choice.

Either of the Port Orleans hotels would work. You can walk from one to the other during your stay and see both hotels. They also both have a boat that takes you to disney springs. They are also nice relaxing resorts. If your budget allows, the yacht club, beach club or boardwalk all have boats to epcot and hollywood studios and great pools and night life.
