I have stayed at all three places and like them all for different reasons. Hojo was fun when my kid was little and enjoyed the water play area but it is a bit of a trek and when you pass the Tropicana on your way to Hojo at the end of the night you will wish you stayed there instead! I’ve stayed at Tropicana the most but I usually go solo and I can see the rooms being cramped with 5 people. . The rooms are 2 queens and a chair bed. I have no idea how comfortable the chair bed would be. Also right there at the crosswalk is Park Vue Inn with 2queen bunkbed rooms and BW Park Place Inn with 2 queen/sofabed rooms. Both get great reviews. BW can get pretty expensive but includes breakfast which is handy.
We just stayed at Pixar Place in November and loved it. We didn’t even use any of the amenities but the location was great and new rooms are super cute. we did a split stay and moved over to the Grand, which was awful. I have stayed at the Grand many times and this was the worst. The rooms are seriously run down and we had some other problems which did not justify the cost. I wish we would have just stayed at Pixar Place instead of moving.
Now I’m going to throw out another option…you will be there during Dapper Days (Apr 12-13) so if you’re interested in participating then you could book the Dapper Day rates for the on-site hotels. See dapperday.com. The Disneyland Hotel is actually a little cheaper than Pixar. The DLH pools/slides are so fun, rooms are magical and I just love the vibe there. If the monorail is running it’s fun to ride it back to the hotel. The walk through Downtown Disney can feel a bit long sometimes but it’s nice to stay in the Disney bubble. Another plus for Pixar and DLH is they have 2 queen with a daybed rooms that still feel quite spacious.
More food for thought! Whatever you choose you will still have a blast!
