Hi all :flower3:
I'm hoping someone can assist me in my dilemma? I rented points from a DVC member, staying at SS. I called to check my ressies and they are not there yet. I was told the hotel could only confirm one week prior to my arrival. So here I sit waiting patiently for my one week prior (I'm not arriving until March 10th). On Jan. 1st I placed an order with floridaorlandotickets.net and only found out on Jan. 30th that my order did not go through (because I called). Being from Canada, I figured 4 weeks delivery time... but I was wrong. I called several times and tried over and over unsuccessfully to order the tickets. They kept telling me 'I' have the problem with my card BUT I confirmed I do not (it wasn't a good experience).

Anyhow, I'm going back to the trusted site mapleleaftickets.net I've ordered before from them and it was wonderful. My concern is waiting time for the tickets to arrive. It's after hours and I work days so.... Just wondering if anyone has ever had experience with Maple leaf delivering to your hotel? My problem is I won't have a confirmation # for my hotel until 1week from the date of my arrival so I will either have to wait (impatiently) or chance the post office and have them sent priority mail and hope the tickets arrive before I leave (and stress out until they arrive).

My dilemma... buy now and hope they get here before I leave or wait until 1 week prior and have them sent to my hotel - Anyone ever done this?

All suggestions welcome - I need help from my fellow canucks :hourglass
Thanks - Liz

When we did the math there wasn't much difference in price ordering from these ticket brokers or right from Disney. At least if you order right through Disney they will have the tickets waiting for you on check in!! I prefer to pay a bit more to make sure I'm going to get them!!

I'll go to that site now. Thanks

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think for the $31 savings, it might be worth my piece of mind to just get them there???

But I'm still looking for your opinions on this.
Thanks Cabmom:)

:rotfl2: Funny, I was just posting my posted response and apparently Dianna was posting my thoughts just ahead of me. :dance3:
I think your right Dianna - That was funny. Great minds think alike :cutie:

Dumb Question - you said you rented DVC points and your ressie isn't there? First of all the memeber that you rented from can only do the calling thru member services, and yes that ressie should be in place! I would double check with that member!

We bought our ticktes thru Disney last time to avoid any hassle. Yes, they were a few $$ cheaper with Ticketmania but not enough to make it worth our while. We picked ours up at the park on the way in - didn't take 5 mins & we had no problems at all. Sometimes its worth the extra $$ for the peace of mind.

I think she means the ressie isn't at the resort yet. She can't call member services to check as they won't talk to her unless she was a member. Her ressie will be on record at member services just not at the hotel until 4 days before check in.

Ahhhh yes - great minds!! :rotfl2:

I definately prefer the peace of mind by ordering through Disney!!

Thank you poohbear that's exactly the problem and p.s. no question is ever 'dumb' it's the question you 'don't ask' - ancient proverb 'daddy'
i.e. first lesson I ever learned from him. :goodvibes

I may have missed it in the thread, but just a reminder that your DVC owner, from whom you rented your reservation, was issued with a reservation number at the time the reservation was booked. Make sure you have that number with you when you go to check in, just in case there are any problems. Probably won't be, but just in case.

I've learned something new!

Thanks!

I definately prefer the peace of mind by ordering through Disney!!

We always order direct from Disney and they have always sent them by courier so we have them in hand within a week of ordering. Yes it costs a few bucks more but it's worth it (at least to us) to have one less thing to worry about.

Thanks everyone for your tips. I think I will order from Disney. One last question... if you please?

Can I order my tickets from Disney in advance and have them held at my hotel even if the hotel doesn't have proof yet that I'm coming down? I have my reservation confirmation from the people we rented from, but that's just the DVC confirmation and the hotel won't know until a week prior. I think it's cheaper to purchase in advance then when I arrive?

Anyone know? :confused3

Shouldn't be an issue if you order and have them sent to your resort. Your confirmation number from the DVC member should be enough!

Here's the deal, as of a few moments ago, via a phone conversation with DVC member services
Purchase at resport -7 Day w/Park Hopper option - adult - $271.58 (US)
Purchase at resort - 7 Day w/Park Hopper option - Child - $232.17 (US)
Purchase in advance - 7 Day w/Park Hopper option - adult - $264.12 (US)
Purchase in advance - 7 Day w/Park Hopper option - child - $ $230.04 (US)

Savings on Advance Purchase vs on site purchase - Adult - $7.41
- Child - $2.13

Purchase at resort - 5 Day w/Park Hopper option - adult - $267.32 (US)
- child - $229.91 (US)

Purchase in Advance - 5 Day w/Park Hopper option - adult - $261.99 (US)
- child - $225.78 (US)

Savings on Advance Purchase vs on site purchase - Adult - $5.33 (US)
- Child - $2.13 (US)

The DVC advisor also suggested buying your tickets in advance at your nearest Disney store in Canada, if you have one handy. My experience is that you may not be able to buy every option at the store, and you may end up paying more than if you put your purchase on Visa or MC when you but at your resort. That depends on the rate of exchange at the moment, but probably wouldn't be a great savings, if any.
As you can see, the savings by buying in advance over on-site on arrival is minimal, and hardly worth bothering with, unless you're really into saving every penny you can.

We bought all our tickets from the Disney Store here. There prices are in Canadian$ based on the exchange rate of months ago when the ticket prices were last changed - huge difference between then and now so there is great savings there. If you are not sure what you are going to need (PH, waterparks etc.) buy a base ticket here and add the additions when you get down to Disney. That way you'll only pay the big exchange on the additions. The 5 day adult base ticket is $244.95 Canadian including tax at the Disney Store - just so you can compare.
Just a thought!

I just called the Disney Store in Moncton, New Brunswick, the nearest one to me, and they quoted prices as follows:

5 Day Park Hopper option adult- $298.20 Canadian, taxes included
Child - $255.60 Canadian, taxes included
7 day Park Hopper option adult - $303.53 Canadian, taxes included
child - $260.93 Canadian, taxes included.

So, you do the math, and figure out your best option for you from these figures. The difference in Canadian Vs US dollars is you determining factor as to whether you buy here, there on site, or advance from there.
Information provides options.

Wow, thank you all. Sounds like a great idea. We have a Disney Store, just over the bridge in Detroit - (10 minutes plus waiting to cross border)

OK, dd8 is bugging to get online to play her Webkinz so thank you all.
