help on netbook and antivirus ??

hi there..
I was given norton antivirus .. (supposedly from the box it mentions that it could be installed on 2-3 computers??)

anyways my neighbor installed it on his desktop and gave it to me ...

now i am wondering can i install this onto a netbook...i am thinking of getting an HP desktop .. but there have not dvd drive ??
how does this work .. or does a netbook not need antivirus... i have never used a netbook ..
i am sure someone here can help me !!
if the netbook has no drive , how do I install anything?? well in case norton antivirus ??

How? Simple: Don't use Norton!

Seriously, don't use Norton. Just like McAfee, it's a CPU hog.

Hmmm, I wonder if that's why my daughter's netbook is so painfully slow. We downloaded Norton from our internet provider (OP, you might want to check there too) and do regular antivirus checks, but her netbook is almost unusable because it's so slow.

I use AVG free and Malwarebytes on my computers. Both are free downloads and were recommended by the computer people at my work and school. AVG does a daily scan and once a month I run the malwarebytes.

I used Norton once on my computer and all it did was slow it down.

ITA! My netbook is super fast with this. Works great and is FREE! We have the free Norton's with Comcast on our desktop and laptops, but NO WAY would I put on a netbook.
