Help!Not carrying bags for the first time. What do minimalists do with their phone and no pockets?

True. I have put my phone in the pocket before buying to ensure it fits. Usable pockets are a must. Who wants a pocket that only holds a quarter or a toothpick?

I use a waterproof phone pouch. It's big enough to hold a phone, some credit cards/ID, and some money. It's extra useful because you can go on water rides or get caught in an afternoon rain storm and not have to panic about your phone.

Here is my no bag option. I used this on my June trip to WDW followed by a cruise. I tend to use this 90% of the time in my life. I carry my ID and a CC, sometimes my medical card, and usually a $20 bill or some $1’s. I update what is in the back case based on what I am doing.

Is that a little case inside a phone case? Where does the phone go? I like the wristlet attachment

If one can't handle something as simple as a fanny pack then buy some clothes with pockets. Fashion might be important if you are walking the streets of Paris, but you are in a theme park and contrary to popular beliefs no one is looking at you and certainly not judging.

One cannot survive in WDW without a phone, ID, cash and a credit card. It is hot and people sweat, it is not a place where it is easy to pull off vanity.

I’m going to my child’s make a wish at theme parks in August. I don’t want to sweat and I also don’t want to go through bag check.
Didn’t think about making my Crossbody a fanny pack until someone mentioned it which is a good idea except still makes me have to go through bag check. I can survive with everything except phone. My insurance cards are in my phone, my husband has pockets for cash and cards and my chapstick and I can always carry cash in my phone case too. It’s a waste to carry the fanny pack for just the phone so was trying to minimize it even more if possible. Our little spf is so tiny so that goes in his pocket

Security in most cases now just consists of walking through the metal detector.
9 times out of 10 you just keep on walking.
So don't think you need to go bagless just for that.

I have a Vera Bradley mini sling backpack that can convert to a fanny pack ( or as we call it in our house, a fancypack). It holds sunglasses, tiny wallet, phone, charger, small tube of sunscreen, a couple medication bottles, small pack of tissues, gum, lifesavers & bandaid. I switch between the crossbody or fanny pack as I find if I carry it 1 way way all day I can end up with either a sore shoulder or lower pack. There is a main compartment that I put most items in, a small compartment I use for gum, bandaids & tissues and a hidden zipper at the back where I can stor the strap extension when not using it. I'm usually not a big vera bradley fan but I have a plain material one that cleans up easily.

I have a small bifold wallet I use when traveling and it won’t fit in the pockets. My phone definitely doesn’t fit in the pockets. About the only thing that will fit in the pockets is a house key or car fob. It’s so annoying, especially when I am specifically looking for the largest pockets I can find.

When I go to Disney, I take two or three different sized bags, and carry the smallest I can based on what I need that day. If it’s sunny and I just need my wallet, phone, and a few hand wipes, I have a very small crossbody that just fits those items. If I need to add a poncho to the mix, I have a slightly larger crossbody. If I need the poncho, and umbrella, and either my DSLR or a lot of backup phone charging stuff, I have a larger crossbody. Having the different options makes it easier on a day to day basis in the parks, and I can wear the crossbody bags as a waist bag if I don’t want the pressure on my shoulders.

Wholeheartedly agree that women's clothes manufacturers have missed a huge market by denying us functional pockets. So I shop in the men's department now for my cargo short needs. I'm 50 and and chunky. I don't need or want to be wearing the really short shorts anyway.

I've found that some men's shorts with the shorter inseam (7 - 7.5") work beautifully and you can't even tell they're men's. I'm not proud and I'm not sorry. I tried those suckers on at my local Kohl's and found my waist size in men's shorts and now I can fit everything in my pockets. It's made life so much easier. Even men's shorts without a deep cargo pocket have a front pocket that comfortably fits the phone no problem.

I guess I don't shop at 'women's clothes manufacturers'. My (women's) shorts from LL Bean and REI have plenty of pocket space.

I swear by my Royal Robbins original Discovery skirt(not the skort). It has secure large pockets, dries quickly, is super light weight and comes in many colors. I have 8 of them. You can get all sizes online at the store website but I usually get mine new, with or without tags, on Pmark. These skirts solve so many carrying issues and are super comfortable. I no longer carry anything into the parks that doesn't fit into the skirt pockets.

A PP mentioned an excellent point about carrying sunscreen.OP, are you planning to reapply sunscreen for anyone in your group? We generally have one small park bag that we all take turns carrying. Must haves for us are bandaids/moleskin, sunscreen, and some form of money.

I use a wristband for my phone when I travel, and it's really helpful because I won't lose my phone since I'm wearing it around my wrist. If you needed to carry a credit card or something, you can get those holders that attach to the back of the phone. But I really do love it. My phone is always out and ready for a quick picture. Most of the time I forget that I am even wearing it. Good luck in your search and enjoy your new-found freedom!
