We are leaving next Wednesday for Disney World and hubby states last night he might want to go to Sea World. I have never been and don't have a clue. Where do I find out about tickets, how much time to spend there, etc. I am scrambling here and could use any advice. He also mentioned Discovery Cove, and all I know about that is that there are different options

Can someone point me in the right direction?

I would go to the Sea World Web site, pretty much all info is there for SW. You can also skim through the threads here.
We just used a great deal with Marriott Resdience Inn, it included our tickets and room for less than $300.00 for two nights and length of stay passes.

SeaWorld is a wonderful addition to an Orlando vacation, with lots of great shows (don't miss Believe, Blue Horizons, and Odyssea). Sharks Underwater Grill is the place for lunch or dinner (make your reservation when you enter the park) with Voyagers being a good choice for counter service.

Discovery Cove is THE premier park...truly an experience you will never forget. Admission is limited so you'll want to book ahead, and the price reflects the exclusive nature of the park. We've been lucky enough to go several times and cannot say enough about the experience. I think if our boys could only choose one park to visit, it would be Discovery Cove.

Enjoy! You should get a good feel for the parks by checking out their websites. :)

As much as I enjoyed Discovery Cove at $279.00 per person per day, it needs to be planned for. It's a nice resort type of place. I personally didn't care much for some of the staff. They seemed a bit standoffish but maybe I just ran into a couple of snooty types but that's my take on DC.
Sea World is still my favorite park and I go to it often (I only live 20 min down the road). Even though I have WDW season passes, I go to SW many times more often. It's so much more relaxed and I really enjoy the animals. They're never the same from one visit to the next. Besides, SW gives you free beer and Magic Kingdom is dry as a bone. :drinking1

So, is a first-timer going to have enough time to do Sea World and DC in the same day? Not sure I want to give up two Disney days for Sea World.

If we just do Sea World and not DC, the best price I can get on tickets at this point is $49.95 with the Be a Kid Again promotion. Does this sound right? I am not interested in doing any timeshare presentation for cheaper tickets, my time is worth more than that to me.

Do you already have a room? I think my deal that included a room and 4 tickets each day was a great deal.
I think doing SW & DC in one day won't work. We spent two days, 6 hours each day and still didn't see two shows.

Those that have posted for you to check out Sea World's web site are correct. That is the best place to get information about the park.

My company gets discounts from a place called Working Advantage. We saved about $10 per adult and about $12 for our son (based on SW's regular prices). I ordered our tickets yesterday and just received them today.

If you have AAA you can also order tickets through them as well.

The last time I visited SW FL was in 93 so I'm looking forward to going back for the 4th time. I have enjoyed it each time.

You would not be able to do both in one day, especially if you're a first timer and want to see everything. I would say one day for Sea World, and 1/2 day for Disc Cove (open to close - I think they close around 5?) Plus, at Discovery Cove, they only allow 1000 guests per day, so you have to book far in advance. Price for Disc Cove is $256 per person for the dolphin swim, and this includes a 7 day pass to SeaWorld. Since you are leaving on Wednesday, I don't think you'll be able to order tickets online because they won't be mailed in time. For SeaWorld, you'll probably be able to purchase tickets at your hotel, or at the Orlando Visitor's Center, or at the gates to the park. I'm not sure if they do will call where you can order the tickets in advance and just pick them up at the park? And I don't know what you can do about Disc Cove; you would probably have to call, and maybe they would do will call or send tickets to your hotel? Like others have said, go to the seaworld website and it will tell you all about the attractions and shows, list park hours, and list showtime schedules, etc. Though Discovery Cove is an awesome experience, I think you'll do better with planning a day for Sea World.

You definitely can't do both in one day, even if you're going for the 100th time! Both are really a full day experience, with SeaWorld almost requiring two days if you want to take it at a leisurely pace and see all the shows.

It would be a crying shame to spend less than a full day at Discovery Cove, not only because of the price, but also because it's such a wonderfully relaxing 'Paradise'.

We ordred our tickets on-line last night, using the Kid rate.

amyminzey, just an FYI, when you order on line, you print your tickets out on your own printer. So, you can do this at 7 days out. When I called yesterday, they did have availability for October 14 at Discovery Cove, but we opted not to do this at this time as it was just too much to try and plan at the last minute. I think we will be happy just doing Sea World since we haven't done it before.

We do already have our room, at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club, and I understand they have a shuttle to Sea World. I am guessing it would be easier to take their shuttle than our own transportation.

Sea world is my favourite park as i am mad about dolphins and manatees it is so relaxing you can take things at a different pace to disney. You may not be able to see "Believe" when you go because a baby whale was born on sept 18th so the show has been put off for a while but there is a meet the baby show. A must see is the blue horizons dolphin show that is really good.

We did the Behind the Scenes at the Dolphin Nursery at Seaword in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. Booked online, only 10 people at a time and you spend about 1/2 hour with a SW guide who tells you about dolphins etc then you move through to the nursery pool and the group is divided up between three trainers and you spend a further 1/2 hour feeding and interacting with which ever dolphins are in the nursery pool at the time. Cost was $40 and well worth the money!
