Holy cow, DH and i just did something completely spontaneous and out of character. Yesterday we booked a disney trip for 7/29, yup 7/29, a little more than 3 weeks away. This is a surprise trio for DS 6th birthday, and our DN 16 and Dnephew 12, who are spending the summer with us. So here's my reason for posting this on this restaurants board! I made my dinner ressies and need some opinions, pickings were slim, but hey, it's Disney World and even if its not the most popular places, it's still Disney. Please take a look at my ressies and let me know if any are a no no... or perhaps a hidden gem??

7/29 dinner at 6 at San Angel Inn
7/30 dinner at 6 at Ragland Road
7/31 dinner at 7 at Sci Fi
8/01 dinner at 6:50 at Wolfgang Puck
8/02 dinner at 7:10 at Garden Grill (Characters) this one spins right?

8/03 breakfast at 7:30 at Chef Mickey's (Breakfast)

Any opinion on the purple ones? We've never been Also does anyone know if

Please take a look, wasn't sure about Boatright's but thought maybe we should try it. We've stayed at POR before and LOVE the foodcourt. Maybe the restairant will be good too??

Also my nephew is extremely picky. If chicken fingers are on the kid's menu can I have an adult portion made for him?

Thanks in advance.

I am not a fan of Concourse as I thought it was way overpriced for a very mediocre steak--but that's just me.

Did not like Mama Melrose at all..Olive Garden is gourmet compared to this place....I would go to 50's Prime Time or head to the Beach CLub for Cape May Clam Bake

RachaelRol,

Hello from a fellow NJ'r ;) ! I've got a picky DS12 and plan on buying him some kids meals OOP for our Aug trip. That allowed us to have some extra TS credits that we're using to go to Cali Grill :yay: ! You might want to consider that and from what I've heard, it's sometimes easier to get ADRs at the Sig dining places.

Another place you may want to try for CS is the Pepper market at the CS. We stayed there twice and they have great variety and really good value on the Dining plan.

We're staying at POR for the first time in Aug, so I'd love to hear how your trip went. Have a great trip !

I think San Angel in would be very cool for kids - the atmosphere is fun.

I've had good experiences at Mama Melrose, though it's not one of my all time favorites. You might be pleasantly surprised there. Spoodles can be great! (I've had 2 really good visits, and one just ok. Certainly not bad.) And the Boardwalk is always fun. Haven't been to Garden Grill in ages, but, yes, it does spin.

The only one I might rethink is Concourse. The food wasn't up to what we were expecting, though I do enjoy going to the CR. You might see if there's a ressie available for Kona or Ohana at the same time (given the similar locations).

Maybe not your perfect list, but I bet the kids will love it all!

In our first 10 or so family trips, none were ever planned more than 6 weeks in advance. Sometimes, that's the best way to go. Have a wonderful time!!

Looks good. Have a great vacation.

OK - maybe I'm blind, but I've seen two people saying they don't like Concourse, and I don't see Concourse in the OP's list??? Personally, I like Concourse Steakhouse, but the only CR restaurant I see in the list is Chef Mickey's.

Boatwright's is good, but no better or worse than your other choices. I think you did pretty good, considering the time of year and the short notice. I've eaten at all of the restaurants you listed, except Raglan Road, and had good meals at all of them.

However, I notice that you're doing two dinners at DTD, and no dinner at MK. Are you not planning to see Wishes or Spectro? If you are spending an evening in MK, I would consider cancelling one of the DTD dinners, and either making a TS at MK or at a monorail resort restaurant, so you can spend an evening in MK. Or, if you can't get a TS reservation for dinner, just go with CS for your MK evening. It would be very time consuming to go back and forth from MK to DTD and back, just to eat dinner.

I also don't see the Concourse, but agree that it should be dumped. We just ate there and it wasn't anything special.

We've eaten at Sci Fi and enjoyed it. It was a little dark, since it's supposed to be a "drive-in" but other then that had a good time. Much preferred over 50's Prime Time, that's for sure.

I also agree that you should try to squeeze in a MK restaurant though. The Crystal Palace has a GREAT buffet and all the Winnie the Pooh characters. Or even grab a hot dog at Casey's on the corner and watch Wishes and Spectro. No ADR's needed there. Just show up a little early to get a seat.

One HUGE piece of advice.... make your ARD's 1/2 hour before you actually WANT to eat or be prepared not to get seated until 20-25 minutes after your ADR. That was our experience over the last week.

I hope you have a good time!!

Thanks for the replies.

I edited my post because I changed my Concourse to Ragland after reading the menus I saw steak was available at almost all of out ressies.

We will have a car for travel to and fro, so we should be okay getting around. We could not get Whispering, Ohana, Chef Mickeys for dinner, or Kona which is why we had to branch out.

I'll keep trying for one of these, maybe we will get lucky.

Any other advice?
