Help Needed for a DLP Newbie

Hello everyone,

We've recently started planning a trip through Europe next summer that will begin in Italy and end at DLP for 3 nights. We plan to use DVC points to stay at the Sequoia Lodge. Before DLP, we will be staying in Paris for a few nights and we plan on taking the train early to maximize our time on the first day. I'm hoping that you DLP experts can help me with a few questions.

1. DVC requires a length of stay ticket for any reservation. Since we will be flying home from CDG on a 10AM flight on our day of departure, I only need 3 days worth of tickets. If I use DVC points for 2 nights and cash for the third night, will they be able to link my rooms so that I do not have to switch?

2. I know there is a high-speed train that goes directly from DLP to CDG. How much should I budget to spend for our family of 4 (kids will be 6 and 9)?

3. What sit-down restaurants would you suggest? We're not really interested in character meals unless they offer a special experience outside of the characters. It's not that we don't like characters, just that we've met them all many times at WDW and are more interested in unique DLP experiences.

4. Any other advice for a newbie is appreciated. Since we are planning visits in Sorrento, Rome, Munich, and Paris as well, it's all a bit overwhelming now.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like an incredible adventure, I can't help with much but others on here have been to the places you're planning to visit so I'm sure they'll be along to offer advice.

Paris is a wonderful city  The fast train is called the tgv, I'm not sure what site you need but this is the uk one.

For a different dining experience at DLP you should do Blue Lagoon, which is in the Pirate of the Carribean ride. Also Walt's is a popular one on here and my favourite :thumbsup2

I would have thought there'd be no problem doing this. I'd suggest you phone them about a week before you arrive just to confirm.

I'd recommend Walt's and Blue Lagoon too as there's nothing like either of them at WDW.

Your trip sounds fantastic :goodvibes we visited Rome for the first time last summer and fell in love with it. I used the Trip Advisor forums to plan it - just like on here there are some really helpful people on there.

I think most DVCers decide that it's better to NOT use DVC points at DLP--the points charged are so high that you're quite a bit better off paying out of pocket. I'm not a DVC owner (maybe someday!) so I don't know this from personal experience, but it might be worth comparing the numbers.

If you do consider booking through DLP, don't just check their US site--the UK site has discount offers that aren't on the US site. We are Americans and have had no trouble doing this. Booking through DLP (any country) would also include a ticket for one more day than you need, though. It might be possible to book a room only (no tickets) through expedia or similar.

Happy researching! Your trip sound fabulous! :goodvibes
