hi,
my husband has just gotten time off from work so off to disney we go!!! :) :) :) only problem we need a place to stay. offsite is fine we will be driving down in our van. we have two kids 1 baby, my husband, myself and my mom. 6 of us. are looking for a place for around $500 for the week. any ideas????

thanks
kim

You should be able to get a 2 or 3 bedroom condo off Ebay during that week for around $500 if Skyauction does not have anything available. There is a convention bringing over 100,000 people to town on 2/7-2/10. Condos are the way to go that week since the hotels are going to be quite full.

By the way, don't plan on driving anywhere I-drive on those dates. The traffic can be horrific.

thanks for the help. will this convention make the parks crowded? that sounds like a lot of people.
thanks
kim

We liked Liki Tiki and Summer Bay resorts. Close to WDW and Publix. Both have full condo. Summer Bay had kids activities and several pools and Liki Tiki has free mini golf and kids water park on site.

I sent you a PM!

Do you think it is safe to wait to book a place last minute or is it possible we wont be able to find anything. if i use sky auctions do you think that vistana or a good resort will come up closer to february 3rd? does sky auctions get resorts that people cancel last minute or how does it work?

The convention in town during that period should not make the parks crowded. Some family members will be at the parks, but most people who attend the convention will be too tired to go to the parks.

The problem is dinner. Get reservations because 110,000 people fill up a lot of restaurants. Many people will stay in the convention center / I-drive area to eat so Disney restaurants shouldn't be quite as bad.

The other is driving. The convention is from 9:30-5:30 and traffic around the convention center at the start and end of the day is terrible. It once took us an hour and a half to get from the convention center to Downtown Disney after the convention let out.

the Cypress Pointe auction looks good. has anybody stayed here?? is it a nice place. if it is i think i will bid. thank you utahkennedys for this idea. has anyone bid on a place like this on ebay and did it all work out i am a little nervous.

I recently purchased two back to back weeks from Renting Resorts on Ebay. I have not stayed yet, but did call the resort to put in my building preferences. They did pull up my reservation, so it looks like all is well.

Can anyone tell me how safe it is to buy a week on eBay. After seeing this post I found an auction for the week that we are going. It is quite a bit cheaper than the rate we currently have our reservation at. I'm just a little bit worried about buying the room on eBay.

You can also check ebay ID jumpbackjack0. She's who we used for the week before Christmas, and we only paid $300 (through Paypal). I also noticed on some of her closed auctions that she had taken some "Best Offers" for less than her "Buy It Now" price. If she doesn't have your dates up, email her through one of her auctions to see if she can get it. Also make sure that she's aware that you want the 2BR instead of the 1BR.

We had 3 of the 2BR condos and everything was as promised. Of course, I can't guarantee what anybody else's experience will be. We are planning on using her in the future though.

As long as the seller has great feedback on eBay I do not worry. We have done this several times, and I always call to confirm with the hotel directly. Always make sure the seller is Square Trade Verified as this also gives you some more reassurance that they have the week to rent. Pay by PayPal with a credit card in case something goes wrong too.

Do you mind sharing when your trip is? If you don't mind, please post when you get back and tell us how your trip worked out. I've looked at some of Renting Resorts listings and wondered about them. I'd love to know that they worked out well.

Just as an aside, if your reservation pulled up, I'm sure you're fine. In my case, I was kind of nervous, so I checked mine at least 3 different times (once the week after I made it, once about 6 weeks before I left, and again a few days before I left)! :rotfl2:

Well, I decided to give it a try and purchased a week from Renting Resorts on ebay. Ended up with a 3 bedroom for nearly $300 less than the 2 bedroom on hotelkingdom.com or Priceline Vacations. Hopefully everything works out.

Thanks for pointing me towards ebay.

Same as above, please post when you get back and let us know how it goes.

Are you at CP or CPGV? We were at CPGV and loved it. The 3BR is going to be huge! At CPGV, the 2BR was about 1300 sq.ft. (I'm pretty sure that's right), and the extra one bedroom is the 1 BR lock-off.

Do you mind sharing what you paid for the 3BR? The 2BR is big enough for us, but DD's BF has to sleep on the couch in it. The 3BR would be wonderful!

We did it for the first time last fall, but I've got to say that I'm sold. I've always done pretty well when I rented houses, but the ebay deal beats anything I've come up with so far.

The one that we will be at is CP (Phase I). We would have been fine with a 2BR as well, but this way everyone will have their own be and nobody will have to use the sofa sleeper.

I used the "buy it now" with a price of $499. I probably could have gotten it cheaper since there was a starting bid of $399 with no bids, but I didn't want to get into a bidding war and risk either not getting it at all or end up paying more than the BIN price.
