Help ... My dog just ate a huge bar of chocolate...

My dog eats chocolate all the time and never has gotten sick. I hope everything turns out ok.

We had a dog that ate an entire box of Godivas she found under the Christmas tree. She was fine, but I was pissed. They were for ME!

Same dog also found my stash of mini boxes of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans when we weren't home. She ate like three boxes -- but spit out the ones she didn't like and stuffed them into the couch cushions.

Just for the record, Poison Control handles pet poisonings just as well as human poisonings. Our poodle, Minky, ate my whole big Valentine box last year, cardboard, cellophane and all. What they told me is that Milk Chocolate is fairly mild. My dog is about 80lbs so he would have to each a heck of a lot of milk chocolate to be endangered. Dark chocolate is much more serious. A pound of dark chocolate can kill a small dog.

Lucky for us, Minky survived. He had quite a stomachache but he recovered

I once fed my poodle, a whole bag, of chocolate oreos. She ate the wafers, and I ate the creme centers. Of course I was 10, and this was before I knew that it could be fatal.

Anyway- no problems, and she was small. Hope all is well w/ your dog too!!
