This is a permutation problem...one in which the order of the names matters and creates a new group.

How many different ways can three girls stand in line would be a word problem that would fit this answer.

I still don't get it! I can't believe how brain dead! I did try to line it up as a swim meet, who won the most points for the team but they are all tied....

The Associative Property of Addition tells us that you can add numbers in any order and get the same answer. I believe that is what is being demonstrated. I don't have the energy to come up with the word problem.

Three girls are going to compete as a 3 person team in a tennis tournament. The coach must decide a playing line up for the team. How many different line ups can she make out of the 3 girl team?
