Looking for some advice...does this seem like a do-able half day at Animal Kingdom? Traveling with DH, DD(9) and 3 DS (11,7,2). Touring plans suggests this can all be done, but their estimated wait times seem short for what I was anticipating in June (we've never been there in the summer months)...so looking for your thoughts as Disney Veterans.

June 12th, Animal Kingdom

Arrival 12:30pm
Meet Disney Pals
Safari (with fast pass)
Wildlife express train Africa (can skip if necessary)
Tough to be a bug
Dinosaur (fast pass)
Snack/bathroom break -15min
Parade at 3:45 (arrive there at 3:30)
Kali River Rapids (fast pass)
Tricera Top Spin -- will skip if line is too long
Boneyard (15-20 min)
Nemo show (6:00, be there at 5:45)
Expedition Everest
Park Closes at 7:00p

Forgot to mention, Kali Rapids and EE would involve a child swap as my 2 year old can't ride. Dinosaur I don't care to ride, so no child swap involved. There may also be the possibility that I can split up our fast pass selections between Kali River Rapids and EE for kids and DH and I and the others would use the child swap pass as the fast pass, which I hear works well...so that may save us a little time.

Based on my experience before FP+: AK really empties out late in the day. Standby lines have been really short during the last hour prior to park closing.

I would try to fit Nemo in earlier in the day when lines are long at other attractions and it is hot outside. I would want to take advantage of short lines near closing. We have done multiple rides during the last hour or EE multipe times. Also, Safari may be more enjoyable later in the day.

Thank you! I didn't realize there wasn't a parade at AK...so sad...that and Lion King were our favorites!

Good thought to do Nemo earlier...without the parade, that may be do- able! I also didn't realize that the wildlife train wasn't a quick 10 minute round trip ride...so we may take that out as well!

I highly recommend the wildlife train. You can see animals being given checkups or perhaps even a minor surgery. In addition there is a petting area that the kids would probably enjoy.

No parade at AK now.

We were in AK this past Friday and there most definitely was a parade!

No scheduled date to end the parade but speculation is sometime in June, so there is a good chance it wll still be running, it is worth seeing if it is still running.

OP -- Plan looks very dooable.

FYI, a CM told me in February that almost all of the veterinary procedures at Rafiki's Planet Watch are done first thing in the morning (except for Wednesdays, when there are no vet procedures at all). The chances of you catching a vet procedure in the afternoon would be very small.

I love Planet Watch, but I usually spend two full days each trip at AK. If you're on a compressed time schedule, I would skip it this trip. The time that it would take you to do it would eat into your schedule too much.

We have seen quite a few examinations in the afternoons. Maybe just good timing.

Would definitely use the FP for Expidition Everest instead of Kali River Rapids. Kali River Rapids is nothing more than a round shaped, slow raft ride that bumps the sides a little bit, rocks a little bit while slowly turning. There is only one large drop, in which depending upon which direction you go down, you either get moderately wet or completely, thuroughly drenched. To us, other than the anticipation of getting soaked, it really isn't a fun of a ride. We've ridden it once and skipped it ever since.

There may also be the possibility that I can split up our fast pass selections between Kali River Rapids and EE for kids and DH and I and the others would use the child swap pass as the fast pass, which I hear works well...so that may save us a little time.

The kids are allowed to ride again with the child swap. So my advice is to let them ride with the first adult using fastpass, then let them get right back on with the second adult that was watching the 2 year old.

It works out to back to back rides with no waiting for the big kids. Might as well take advantage of it while you can still do the child swap.
