Let's say I'm looking at a room that states fares start at $3000. When they break that down, traveler #1 pays $1500 and #2 pays $1500.

So do I as a single traveler pay $3000 (200% of traveler #1's fare) or do I pay $6000?

Also I don't believe this is just a DCL thing. All cruises are double occupancy so you pay the full rate even if only 1 person is traveling. Same with hotel rooms. You almost never pay extra for a 2nd adult or less for one as they are double occupancy rates.

the room sells as double occupancy.

Just put in three cruises for one and 2 people not counting the taxes port fees none of them came to 200 percent.
One was 1422 and 1422 comes to 2844. Single rate was 2694. Not quite 200 percent still a lot

Several lines offer low single supplements. NCL is often good about this, and even has solo cabins, and Crystal often offers low single supplement. There's a site I'm probably not allowed to name that specifically tracks sailings with single supplements under 100%.

Plus if it is one adult and one small child, still charged 2 adults rate.

OK, did a quick search myself. Granted - just one cruise I checked.

It come out to 191%, roughly. Single cruiser pays what the going rate for each person on a double occupancy pays, plus their port fees/taxes, plus 91% of what the second person on a double occupancy pays (but no taxes/port fees).

Sure is a lot! It isn't quite double because there are port fees the cruise line pays to the port/government per cruiser. So the single cruiser pays double the cruise fare, plus a single port and other government fees. Almost 200% but not quite as you say.

NCL now has four ships with their studio/solo cabins. Great for one person! I know Carnival often has reduced solo supplements and I believe that Quantum class on Royal also has the solo cabins.

No the single cruiser does not pay double the cruise price. Not counting port fees taxes etc. it's not double close ,but not double

We're just into semantics, I think we both (and most everyone else) understand. The cruise fare plus fees and taxes is the cruise price, at least in DCL parlance. So a single cruise pays double the fare, plus a single port tax fee, to come up with a cruise price that is almost double the fare+fees for one person. So it's "about" double, and close enough in casual conversation to say it's twice as much. Within the margin of error LOL
