So I got this really cute journal book for $1.00 on clearance. It's a journal w/spiral and nice thick pages.

Any suggestions on how to optimize it's use? I love the deluxe passporter version, but don't want to spend $40 bucks just for that.

Thanks for any tips!:thumbsup2

This past trip, April 4 - 11, I did the same thing with a discount journal I bought at Borders. I just wanted to jot down the days events, like a Captains Log, on a boat. I started each day with a weather observation; sunny, 70 degrees, light winds, :cool2: etc., then just wrote down the days plans as we discussed to see how they would match up with what we really did!
I also jotted down little observations about the area. One thing I take notice of each trip is the price of gasoline at the Hess station. I know it's weird:confused3 , but looking back after a few years it could be interesting! I try to write down our bus driver's name, waitress's name, bartender or maybe just a friendly CM. You never know who you might run into years later!
Since I'm kind of a numbers guy, I save our receipts to total up and compare to previous years; did we actually spend that much in 2004:scared1: !!
To personalize the book, we get the little stickers some of the hostesses give to children waiting in line for dinner and put them on the inside and back cover, or press a flower (gardenia is our favorite) between pages and write underneath it where it was picked, tuck a bar napkin or drink coaster from a favorite spot in between pages (we have Raglan Road, WL pool bar, CSR pool bar & Big River Grille in this one), save the fast pass from a ride someone chickened out of (DW on EE this year:lmao: ).
Finally don't forget a strong rubber band to help keep the book closed:thumbsup2 ! When the blues set in on some rainy Saturday, pull out the journal and you'd be surprised how many memories come flooding back with just a few lines jotted down while they happen. Strangely enough, sometimes, when I read the words, I can remember the warm air, cool rain shower, smell of burgers cooking, sound of birds, the feel of the Florida sun on my skin and relive that relaxed feeling I only have at WDW!!
Enjoy.............

Thanks, that's a really lovely idea to use it as an actual journal. I was thinking more along the lines of a planner to plan and write down details about the trip, but I should use it for both! It would be pretty cool to look back at it and have memories of the trip jotted down. One really nice thing about this book is it has one of those attached elastics to keep it closed with-I'm sure it'll be helpful if I start tucking stuff into it (and knowing me, I will ;) )

Dedicate a page for each day of your visit. Include any ADRs with their confirmation numbers, which park you plan on visiting, any must see attractions or shows, and maybe the times of some of the evening events like Wishes or Illuminations etc.

To decorate it I'd purchase some sheets of Disney scrapbooking paper and paste on the front and back cover then get some letter stickers and lable the front and add some character stickers.

Maybe also make a packing list for each child/adult.

Lastly, I'd glue some envelopes onto a few of the pages. After your trip is over you place things like your park tickets or other momentos inside the envelopes and save for a smile later. :)

Thank you! Exactly the kind of advise I need. Great ideas!

I would use a page to make a calendar of the days you will be there. Across the top, make a column for each park and along the side have each day of your trip. Then in the grid fill out the park hours for each park and day. You could also include on the "calendar" page the parade and nighttime shows and which park has emh on which day. Also, you could make a page for each park, listing all of the attractions and then make a notation as to which attractions have fastpass, or are open for morning or evening emh.

Thanks! Will do. Keep the ideas coming.

I started a spiral Index card with the following:

Must have Photo's
Things to keep for Scrapbook
And have a card going for each of the Pavillians in Epcot telling me the Entertainment, Photo Ops and Characters at each one.

That's as far as I've gotten, but have until August to plan, plan, plan. I don't want to have to dig for info last minute while I'm there.

Hope this helps. Have fun.
