my family and I were scheduled for the 3 night Dream cruise that was cancelled for tomorrow. Although, I'm disappointed (let's face it-most of us have to plan way in advance for this stuff) I'm also relieved that they made this "executive decision." I would not want for any of my family to be put in harms way or any of the crew in a potentially catastrophic situation.

We booked via dreams unlimited and our agent has been great but unfortunately she's at Disney now for what seems to be some training type work, so there is a lag in her responses.

I wanted to come here to see what the general consensus is- the message we received states:

"In addition, Guests on these cancelled cruises will be offered the opportunity to rebook a future Disney Cruise Line reservation at a 25% discount. Please call us at 1-855-347-2784or 407-566-7054 from September 18, 2017, through October 18, 2017, to book a reservation utilizing this discounted offer."

Does this mean we have to SAIL from Sept 18/Oct 18th to be able to receive the 25% discount or that is the timeframe to CALL to rebook to receive the discount?

Also, The agent did say that refund processing takes 10-14 days-no issue on that-but if original payments were made with a credit card & multiple gift cards (to which I disposed of after my final payment was made) how do they refund gift cards?

I know in the big scheme of things, my "issues" and questions really aren't relevant at this time but in order to plan ahead and make some last minute decisions I thought I'd try here to get my questions answered.

Many Blessings to each of you!

Most of us are reading it to say the booking must be made between those dates. Not that the cruise must be between those dates. However, someone did report getting the information that the cruise must be between those dates. I think that's wrong.

Refunds are always made via the original payment method. In reverse order. So, whatever was paid for via credit card will get credited back to the credit card. Whatever was paid via gift cards, the gift card will be reloaded. Since you disposed of your cards (generally recommended to NOT do that until the cruise is finished), I'm not sure how that would be handled.

Question - do you think DCL will delay any announcement of Spring 2019 cruises until after that 25% window is done, or do you think they'll open those cruises in time for these guests to book with the discount?

I don't know when the Spring 2019 cruises will be announced.

Nobody knows. Except, maybe, DCL.

I interpret that Sept 18th - Oct 18th window to be the time you call to make your reservation. Not the window for sailing. It actually corresponds well with the 10-14 day turn-around for refunds, so it's kind of nice that DCL is waiting until you have the refund in-hand to put down a new deposit.

Any refund is always made back to the original form of payment so you should always hold onto the gift cards until your vacation is completed. When you made payment, did you by chance write an email to your TA that would have included the gift card numbers? or did any confirmation of payment list the gift card numbers? Maybe your TA can get that info for you -- with the numbers, maybe you can use Disneygiftcard.com to combine onto a newer card that you have in-hand. If not, there is likely a way to request a check or new gift card for the refund, it just likely will take longer.

Sorry your vacation plans changed but I hope you reschedule and get to enjoy a future cruise!

So Sorry that your cruise has been cancelled. It is really disappointing to have that happen when you plan for so long to go. But yes, much better that everyone is safe. I am praying for all Floridians right now. The real issue will be what is left after the storm hits. It will be interesting to see how the Port fares. We are going in December from San Juan to Miami. Very curious to see how those ports are affected.

I think the dates are Sept 18 and later for the crew and people to be able to help guests and for them to take care of their own families. On the good side you might be able to afford a longer voyage with the 25% off ! Maybe look at that bright side!!

That is the window for you to book the new cruise to receive the 25% off. Not the window that you have to take the cruise.

Thousands of passengers have been impacted by the canceled cruises. There's no way all those people could reschedule and fit onto cruises that leave in the next few weeks.

Do you happen to know what they do if you combine a bunch of gift cards onto 1 and only use that 1 card to pay DCL? I always buy a bunch of $50 cards at Target to get the 5% discount, then pay off my cruises $500 at a time from one card.

Please accept my apologies for the delay in hearing back from your agent. Not that this is an excuse but many of the agents currently in training on working trying to get home before the hurricane and/or the airport closes - again, not an excuse but perhaps a reason for the delay.

Everyone on this thread is correct - rebookings can be made 9/18 - 10/18. This is not the travel window but the booking window.

Please feel free to email me at John@DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com and I would be happy to assist further.

Someone just posted the letter they received regarding the 25% off for future cruises on thedclblog.com.
It says a 2017 or 2018 future cruise. So it looks like you have to have a date before December 31st 2018 to be eligible for the discount.

John,

Beth C is my agent and is amazing and has continued answering my questions, however; I feel terrible to continue to email her knowing my current issues (although important to me as I was suppose to be on the 9/8 sailing along with other members of my extended family) are by far not as urgent as many people living through this nightmare and devastation.

My question is, I used my Disney rewards Visa, Visa rewards, and multiple gift cards for payment. I still have the last gift card that I paid my final payment with but not the other gift cards. If Disney is refunding our trip based on our method(s) of payment, do I need to call them regarding me not saving my gift cards (once my final payment was made, I never thought to keep them,) or because I paid via dreams unlimiteds system, Beth would be able to help resolve the issue?

My family cannot thank you all for the help you've been during this time of chaos!
