Help me talk to doc about possible ADD/ADHD

UPDATE: The doc we went to was closed minded about homeschooling and when he asked if my son has trouble standing in line, I said that doesnt come up too often but no, he seems to do fine. He replied with "well see, if you had him in normal school he'd have that opportunity." I dont see standing in line as a good reason to pick any education system. He had several anti-homeschool comments so I fired him!! (He didnt want to discuss how this problem was there when he was in public school.) (Jerk!) We have a new doc lined up in two weeks.

Well, we certainly went through trials with my son when he was very young. Very hyper, had temper tantrums all the time, slow to speak, had trouble with peers, etc. you name it, we did it. We had many Dr's appointments, and they all sent my son out of the room to some playroom.

We tried different medications for years. When he was a baby, he had such bad colic, I used to give him a bath and have a glass of wine, just to keep us both sane.

He is now 15 and just starting his sophomore year...almost 16. He has almost straight A's and has Olympic qualifying swimmer time. He is faster than any senior on the team. Swimming and water (maybe all those baths) saved him.

They are really looking at ADHD now as really a "delay" and not a permantent syndrome. It is certainly true in our case, but I have to tell you...We never stopped working with him. Numerous parenting classes, always checking homework. And quite frankly, swimming changed him.

So, there is hope...He may look completely different as a teenager.

I had a ADHD student in a very laid back classroom (who needs lines? We never did master lining up.) and we made this student a flip book of what to do. He would have so much trouble with after breakfast. If we told him to clear his place, he would put his chair away and leave everything else. We created a book. An example
Clear plate
Clear cup
Clear Spoon
Wash hands
Go potty
Wash again

He would flip after every task. Worked pretty well and after awile he could handle being told to do multiple things at once.
