Help Me Plan Our Day At Animal Kingdom!

On the day we are visiting AK, the park has Morning EMH at 8am so we plan to be at the park at 7:30am. We plan to ride as many rides as we can in the morning. We haven’t met our 60 day for FP reservations so I don’t have that planned yet. For lunch we are going to Satu’li Canteen. My plans seem pretty put together until the evening. For the evening, my DM wants to see the Discovery Island Carnival which has showtimes 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, and 7pm. She also wants to have dinner at Jiko in Animal Kingdom Lodge. We must do those two things as it’s her birthday and we want to keep the birthday girl happy. We are going to have lightweight dresses and sandals in our backpacks so we can change in the bathroom at AK before we head off to our dinner at Jiko. Does this make sense? I’m thinking it would be a hassle to leave the park and go back to our hotel room to change and then go to Jiko and then go back to the park. I’m thinking we wouldn’t be able to see Discovery Island Carnivale if we did that. And she really REALLY wants to do that. She said she wants to dance with the Carnivale. Also, I heard that AK has a lot of attractions at night and has night time experiences that are enjoyable. So, I think she would like to see Rivers of Light too. Rivers of Light has showtimes at 6:45pm and 7:30pm. Can we do all these things in the evening? Is this possible? What about the transportation time between Animal Kingdom and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Maybe we should do the Discovery Island Carnivale at 4pm, River of Lights at 6:45pm, then change in the bathroom and go to Jiko at 8pm? Does that sound realistic? I’m just throwing ideas out here...

What about the transportation time between Animal Kingdom and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge? Maybe we should do the Discovery Island Carnivale at 4pm, River of Lights at 6:45pm, then change in the bathroom and go to Jiko at 8pm?

You could probably do Carnivale at either 4 or 5 and still make the 6:45 RoL. Travel time from AK to AKL is short, but if you're waiting on a Disney bus, you need to figure in the 20-30 min possible wait for that bus. Still, an 8:00 Jiko should be okay. Personally, I'd change at the restroom at AKL instead of one in the parks. It will be less crowded and much nicer.

You probably wont have time to leave for Jiko and come back and do anything. so the later reservation is probably best...and I agree with the suggestion of changing once you get to Jiko and have checked in. Best use of time as well as not being crowded. Is you Jiko ADR set at 8 pm? It was hard to tell from your post if you have it set yet...if not, that is going to be the first thing you need to do as soon as you are able...the rest will fall into place behind that.
