OK, we're in the planning stages of our very first trip to WDW! I'm so excited!

We're looking at end of Sept-Oct 2007. What should our start date be if we're hoping to maybe get in on Free Dining if they offer it same time next year? Also, as long as our arrival date is before Oct 4, the whole trip is priced at the value season, correct?

I'm sure I'll be back with many more questions, but right now we're just trying to pin down a time to go- probably 9-10 days or so.

Yes to the dining question. We went Sept. 28 - Oct 3 2005, and although the parks were "empty" the first few days, the last few were busier, and Monday was super crowded (to us...we never go during peak season, so busy to us means 90 minute waits for Peter Pan, compared to 0 - 30 on other days). I would try for sometime between the week following Labor day and the last week of Sept, unless the Food and Wine festival is important to you, it starts the first weekend of Oct., and so do some schools Fall Break, hence the increase in crowds. Again, the crowds were not bad to some people, we were just used to very low crowds. :goodvibes
