Ok, so I am definitely counting my blessings right now but having a hard time being excited.

I am a disser through and through. We are in the process of closing on a dvc resale and I'm thrilled we haven't been to WDW in almost 2 years. However, before we bought we made plans to go away with the in-laws this summer using their timeshare. Long story short we're ending up in Orlando at Mystic Dunes for a week AND going on a 4 night cruise. Basically we're going on a 2 week vacation which is unheard of for us.

Now, the kicker, we decided (much to my dismay) this wouldn't be a "disney vacation." We are planning on doing Disney next summer. We are doing US, IOA, and SW. I'll probably get to MK for a day because, well, I have to. I know I'm fortunate, and looking forward to a vaca, I just find myself going to US forums and not getting excited and going back to the disboards. Anyone else have this??? Not to mention, this is my first cruise too!! I keep thinking how DS is going to do at 3 1/2 at the US/IOA...Would rather do WDW.

Anyway, thanks for listening.

I how you feel we have tried a few times to do a non Disney trip.
There is fun to be had at sea world and universal . The kids will love it

I think you'll have a great time! There are so many awesome things to do around Orlando. :goodvibes At least you know you have WDW around the corner in 2012! :thumbsup2 I'm jealous that you're going on a cruise. :sail: We've still never been on one!

I feel the same way you do, but you do have many other things you can do in Orlando and then the cruise. But I would find an excuse to go over for one day. Sorry no help I guess......

You will have a great time. There's a lot to do at IOA and US. And my kids loved SW at that age - pet a sting ray!!!

And cruises are great. And keep thinking - "Next year I'll be at Disney - next year I'll be at Disney";)

Honestly - You'll have a great time. IN 2012 we're staying off property and doing the US/IOA hang at the pool tour and then doing a blow out WDW in 2013. Iy's different experiences - different rides - have fun!!

At least you're not working:thumbsup2

let us know your experiences with the non disney parks because i have NO idea!!!! I just pasted my 10 year mark of going to WDW at least once, if not twice, each year and i have yet to step foot off of WDW property (besides to/from airport). People always ask me if i've tried SW/IOA/US and I say "no.....i just havent felt the need to leave WDW and check them out" :confused3

We've done the US thing a couple of times. It was okay. The kids had fun but, interestingly, not enough for them to want a return trip. Of course that was many years ago, pre-Harry Potter so it could be a lot better than when we went. I would expect it to be much improved since US hired many former Imagineers that Disney let go when they were downsizing.
