We may be able to take a trip back to wdw in 2011. :cool1: We (me, DH, DD9, and DS 6) went last Christmas. We've been during Mardi Gras (when it didn't coincide with President's day) and we've been twice during Easter break. I would REALLY like to experience the Halloween festivities/decorations. Problem is we can only go when the kids are off of school. We have a fall break scheduled around Columbus Day. I don't mind taking the kids out of school for a couple days just not a week.

I'm worried about the weather and crowds around this time. We live in South Louisiana so we know all about heat and humidity but I don't like it. How bad is it at the beginning of October? We've been in the crowded seasons before but how does Columbus Day weekend compare to Christmas, Easter, etc.?

My second choice after October would be Mardi Gras of 2012. In addition to waiting longer, Mardi Gras falls the same week as President's Day. The weather will be better but do I want to put up with the crowds????

So give me your opinion. Should I go in October with the heat and humidity? or do I wait until Mardi Gras and put up with the crowds?:confused3

Thanks!!!

We went the 2nd week of Oct. 09 and it was hot but not unbearable. We went to MNSSHP and it was great. On a scale of 1 to 10, the crowds were a 5 or 6. I would definitely recommend Oct over Presidents week.

Never been to Marde Gras or any of the other special events but Halloween is GREAT!! We went to Disney late Sept in '08 and '09. We did MNSSHP both times and had a BLAST!! The whole family dressed up as a group...'08 we were all pirates and '09 I was Smee, DH-peter pan (pants instead of tights:lmao:), DD-Tinkerbell, and DS-Cpt. Hook. Super fun!!! The crowds aren't bad at all and the weather has held up for us both times. Hurricanes all around us just not on top of us. Very humid, but being from NE Texas it didn't really bother us at all.

The family was really bummed(mostly DH) with our Halloween festivities this year, because it just wasn't as fun as being at the MNSSHP! Needless to say we are making plans to go in Sept/Oct again in 2011...:thumbsup2

If you can go mid-September (school willing), some of the Halloween festivities will have already started. Stay hydrated, and the heat shouldn't be too big of an issue.

Thanks for all the info! Has anyone been during Presidents' Week and Columbus Day weekend and can compare?
