Help me decide on Character breakfast

We are not on a dining plan and usually do one character meal a trip (well at least that's the plan since this will be our second trip). Last year we did Tusker house for breakfast. It was a pretty good breakfast, but I'm not a fan of buffets...

We're approaching our 180 days soon and my girls are really getting into princesses. I guess that leaves Akershus or Cinderellas Royal Table. Even though it's a little more expensive I think we're leaning toward the royal table.

How do the two breakfasts compare? Is either one better for picky eaters? We try and get the latest breakfast time so it's kind of our lunch break as well...

You are correct in that these are the only two princess meals that are not buffets.

Both venues are lovely.

I think it comes down to both cost and menu. I think the children's breakfast menu at CRT is pretty blah, especially for the cost, but you ARE eating in the castle.

Do the girls have favorite princesses? Belle does the initial meet at Akershus. Cinderella (duh, right) does CRT. The other princesses inside are pretty stable.

I would say consider favorites, and look at the menus.

OUR WDW CHARACTER MEAL & BUFFET RANKINGS (*rev: August 2015*):
Results are listed from best to worst
Best Food (quality first, then variety):
. . . 1900 Park Fare
. . . Ohana
. . . Garden Grill
. . . Tusker House, breakfast-Lunch (moved from #1 Spot due to menu changes)
. . . Garden Grove Swan-dinner
. . . Akershus Royal Banquet
. . . Tusker House, Dinner
. . . Cape May Café
. . . Hollywood & Vine
. . . Crystal Palace
. . . Cinderella Royal Table (since new menu)
. . . Chef Mickey's
Best Character Interaction (time with guest first, then friendliness):
. . . Tusker House, Breakfast-Lunch
. . . Akershus Royal Banquet
. . . 1900 Park Fare
. . . Garden Grill
. . . Tusker House, Dinner
. . . Ohana
. . . Garden Grove (Swan, dinner)
. . . 1900 Park Fare
. . . Chef Mickey's
. . . Cape May Café
. . . Hollywood & Vine
. . . Cinderella Royal Table
. . . Crystal Palace (barely enough time for a photo)
Best Atmosphere (surroundings and ambiance):
. . . Cinderella Royal Table
. . . Tusker House, Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner
. . . Akershus Royal Banquet
. . . Ohana
. . . 1900 Park Fare
. . . Garden Grill
. . . Crystal Palace
. . . Hollywood & Vine
. . . Cape May Café
. . . Garden Grove (Swan, dinner)
. . . Chef Mickey's
.
NOTE1: Results are listed from best to worst. Overall, Tusker House wins due to best food and the length of time the characters stay at each table. A close second is 1900 Park Fare. By far, Chef Mickey's is the loser, due to mediocre character interaction and almost terrible food quality. The very distant second worst is Cinderella Royal Table, for brief time at tables by characters and the new menu.

Akershus is a nice hybrid: hot items brought to your table and cold items (bagels, pastries, cheeses) on a sideboard. It would be better for picky eaters because there are options.

Usually, the general opinion on the board is CRT for atmosphere and Aker for better princess interaction.

I was at the pool and the cutest 5 year old boy told me the best thing he's ever done was to eat at Cinderella's castle! We ate at Park 1900. It was my first character breakfast. The food was good. The character interactions were great and the chef at the omelette station was fabulous!

Eating in the castle is something I think everyone should do once. The food is better at Akershus and it's not as rushed, but there is just something about the castle....

I've never been to CRT, but we ate at Akershus last year with a princess-obsessed two-year-old and it was the highlight of her life. Belle greets on the way in and four other princesses came to our table (Snow White, Ariel, Aurora, and Cinderella).

We liked that the hot items were brought to your table and the cold were on the buffet. It was a good hybrid, as another poster mentioned. There are some Nordic specialties on the buffet for adventurous eaters, but there was plenty of "traditional" fruit, yogurt, and pastries for not-so-adventurous eaters.

I've never done CRT, but we did Akershus breakfast a few trips ago and it was just plain bad. The princesses were fine, but the food awful and no where near worth the cost. I'd stick to seeing the Princesses in the Parks and do Tusker house. Its the one and only character meal we've found that actually has really good food.

Does this mean we are kicked out in 15 minutes when that session ends?

There is also the bon voyage breakfast at trattoria al forno at the boardwalk, it’s new and I have not tried it but I have heard good things about the food. Also some people really like that it’s not just princesses, It’s couples, Rapunzel and Flynn and Ariel and Eric.

1900 Park Fare has Cindarella, Prince Charming, the stepsisters and the stepmother which is very good for a princess fan and the dinner buffet is yummy! Do consider it!!

CRT is an amazing experience but the food is so bad for what you pay.

I think they were asking about breakfast and Cinderella and Co are only at dinner. Breakfast is an eccletic mix of British charaters, Mary Poppins, Alice and the Hatter, Winnie the Pooh and sometimes Tigger.

Appologies then i would go for the Bon Voyage breakfast as you get to meet the Tangled duo!!

This thread was started in 2015, before that breakfast existed. The OP has probably already eaten breakfast somewhere by now.
