We are going back in October-5 nights before our 3day on the Dream. Currently booked at AKV-Kidani, as it's our home resort. Looking to switch to 2br at either OKW or SSR. It is myself, DH, DD12, and DS12. What are your preferences? Which has the better pool (slide)? What areas would you request at either one? OKW near HH is not available for all of the days.

TIA for you input!

Pools are both good, Though you will hear OKW not as "fancy" but it is large, the slide is fun and unless you are really far away from HH, it is not a bad walk at all. Either resort allows you a boat ride to Downtown Disney. Rooms at OKW are probably bigger is square footage, and overall is much more relaxing that Saratoga Springs.

We have stayed in a 2 BR at both resorts. OKW rooms are significantly larger. When we stayed there, we requested to be close to HH and we LOVED that area. We were in room 6222(building 62) and had a nice view of one of the water areas. SSR rooms are a little smaller, but IMO they are nicer and "homier," if this makes sense. There are a few different areas that we like at SSR. Congress is great for walking to DTD and DTD views. The Springs is near the main pool area, check in, etc... The Grandstand has it's own pool area and the walk is still not too bad to get to the main pool.
If I wanted to save some points and wanted larger accommodations, I would go with OKW, otherwise, I would choose SSR. Either way, they are both beautiful resorts!

We love the extra space you get at OKW. The villas are much, much larger than SSR, and you get a larger patio/balcony space. Plus, the two bedrooms have 2 beds, so your kids each get a real bed rather than one on a sofa bed. (I will say that the sofa beds at SSR are more comfortable than OKW).

That said, my kids prefer the pools at SSR. It's a little more fun. I think they'd still choose OKW - but the pools are themed more extensively at SSR. Another plus for SSR is much better counter service. OKW counter service is pretty lame... but we're usually eating in the villa or the parks, so it doesn't bother us.

I think the dedicated 2 BR at SSR has 2 beds in 2nd bedroom. Can someone correct me if I am wrong.

Leaning towards SSR because of the pools and CS options

I had this wrong - sorry! I double checked and it appears the dedicated 2-bedrooms have 2 queens.

Easy choice for me. I've stayed at both in 2BR villa.

OKW for the theming and laid back atmosphere, larger rooms, and fewer points required for the stay.

If you are looking for opinions mine is HANDS DOWN - OKW!!!! I believe that SSR has the smallest rooms of all the DVC resorts. I absolutely love the size of the rooms in OKW.

OKW is a FULL kitchen and a FULL dining area. Not a breakfast nook with a mini dining table in the living room. I was very disappointed with SSR and only stay there when I have no other choice.

Good luck!

It depends on a lot of things that may matter to your family, but here is something no one has specifically brought up:

We have children 12 and 15. The living area at SSR (kitchen tv table) is WAY too small for us and two teens. It really gets on our nerves, which are often frayed after a day of family love and togetherness!!! There is not enough seating for all 4 of us to sit and watch tv. Of course, you would think with 2 bedrooms and 3 tvs we could all split up, but for some reason my "little ones" like to still be next to each other and torture each other and fight over tv and seating.

Also, the balcony at OKW is really big enough for everyone to go out there and eat together. Not true at SSR.

These specific size issues were never a concern until my kids got bigger and bigger.

Having said all of that, SSR is our home resort and we had a amazing stay at Xmas. The counter food offerings are much much better than OKW and are available at more than just one pool now, the grocery store seems to have much better food offerings, and Artists Point is much better we think than Goods to GO which is yuck. Of course, we love Olivia's too.

I don't think I helped you!
