Help me decide if I should ride FOP (motion sickness concerns)

Star Tours and Millenium Falcon ride I'm fine. I get sicker than a dog on Soarin', and am far too claustrophobic for Mission: Space, plus the simulation messes me up. 3D movies give me a headache but don't make me sick.
I know no one can say for certain, but hoping someone who's similar can give me some insight on whether or not the Avatar FOP ride is gonna send me back to the hotel lol

If you get sick on Soarin - you'll get sick on FOP in my opinion. My son got very nauseous on it and he rides everything. He was green when he got off it. I had to close my eyes but I barely made it.

I see your claustrophobic... so am I and for that reason alone I refuse to go on. I cant fathom being locked into a contraption where I cant even move. I have also been on Mission and I hardly made it just because I felt so enclosed, Ibwas in tears by the end. Then again I am the type of person to subtely freak out when a ride stops when I am on it.

I have severe motion sickness and vertigo. I can't do Star Tours. I've sworn off Expedition Everest after this last trip. I can do Flight of Passage just fine. But my DH who nothing bothers can't. You never know until you try. I also don't like to feel claustrophobic but have no issues feeling that way on FoP. The first time I tried FoP, I did it at closing so if I got sick it wouldn't ruin my day and I could go back to the room and go to bed. You really won't know how you will do unless you try it. That said, I probably won't ever do Mission Space just because it's not my cup of tea. I would say it depends on how much you are interested in the ride as to whether you should try it or not.

I'm surprised that you would be fine on Star Tours but Soarin makes you sick! I have no issues with Soarin' but Star Tours is borderline for me - I do it anyways but I usually feel gross afterwards. Flight of Passage is also borderline for me but again, I do it anyways. I could not do it multiple times in a row and I find if my stomach is full I usually fare better.

FOP is the worst for me motion sick wise. And I can ride everything else mentioned above with no issues whatsoever.

The way I explain this:
Star Tours is just a room with a screen. Lots of space, I can look around easy and see that it's just a room. It's not immersive like Space Mountain where I can't look away or escape it.
Soarin is like space. It's all i can see and stretches forever and my seat doesn't ACTUALLY move like it does on Star Tours and it makes me feel super sick and awful. Also because claustrophobic, small space, high up, stuck.

I totally believe you but that seems so odd to me because I would say the exact opposite! :rotfl2: I find Star Tours claustrophobic and it's the fact that the seats move (along with the screen) that makes me motion sick! Soarin' doesn't bother me because even though it's a screen, I'm barely moving! Plus the cool breeze always helps me with motion sickness and Star Tours doesn't seem to have any of that!

I never get motion sickness, ever. But on FOP the first time, I had to close my eyes a few times. If you have a tendency to motion sickness, it could be really uncomfortable.
Since the seat doesn’t really move, just squeezes your legs (which I hated, by the way) to simulate the breathing I guess, if you are comfortable closing your eyes until it passes, you may be ok. You can’t get off, as you are locked into place in the legs and in your back.
The second time I rode, I was much better but still got woozy at one point from the dizzying drop and turn.

I agree that if you closed your eyes you would probably be okay.

I do not have a problem with motion sickness on Soarin’. I PRAYED I wouldn’t vomit the entire time on FOP. NEVERagain.

FOP is Soar'n on steroids! So I'd say no or go at the end of the night so you can go to bed. Closing eyes does help & it has the breeze which helps. I can handle Soar'n, Star Tours is a little queezy, & refuse to do Mission Space. Bonine every night starting the day before I leave for Disney has really helped.
