After messing about with some friends and their i phone and i touch, i now want one. The only problem is which one do i get. If i get an i phone it will be a 24 month contract and £35 a month plus i have to pay about £90 to get it. An i touch is about £150 and i would keep my old phone. At the moment i don't have a contract phone and spend between £10-15 a month on PAYG. I just don't know what one to get, i think i want the i phone but not sure as it feels like paying a lot of money for calls and texts that I wouldn't use.

I know a lot of you have iphones so please convince me one way or the other. The cost isn't too important i just want one for all the apps as they seem so great.

I have an itouch as I really don't use my mobile enough to warrant a monthly contract.

Like you I have a PAYG, (on 3) I top up about £15 every two/three months, when I top up I get a 1000 free texts, that is all I really use it for so to me having an iphone would be a total waste of money especially when the itouch does pretty much exactly the same thing (other than make calls).

Thanks that was what I was thinking too. So without being silly the only thing the iphone does that the touch doesn't is make calls, if thats the case it will be an itouch i get

Thats the only thing I am aware of. I love my itouch!!! :cloud9:

All 4 of us in this house have iPod Touches. DW has the 64GB and she chose that purely because she wanted a media player and not a phone that also plays media. I have her 32GB cast off and the kids got 8GB ones for xmas.
As far as I am aware the iPhone also takes photos - but the camera isn't that great and most other phones do this much better anyway.
If you are happy with your phone, and want the apps and media storage then go for the touch, and get the biggest one you can afford.
One final thing to remember is that the phone will allow you to connect and use the apps anywhere - the touch needs to be in a wi-fi area for it to connect.

I like the phone i have, so I just got the touch, I love it!!

We are waiting for DH's iPhone and I am getting mine in May (when my current contract runs out) we will both use ours for work too so it will be handy for us. I can't wait! Especially as I saw on the app store yesterday that you can get Toy Story Mania for it now too! :)

You can get Toy Story Mania on the itouch aswell! I love it and play it all the time!!!

ok think it will be the i touch I get as i like the phone I have at the moment and don't think I need a contract phone.
SO where is the best place for me to get an i touch from?

The main differences are:

- camera (video and photo)
- phone calls and texts
- Internet "anywhere" rather than just wifi

can't think of anything else apart from the cost, so if you've got a perfectly good phone then I go for the iPod touch unless you really want them integrated.

Your other option is to consider the ipad when it comes out soon.

Have you decided what size you want yet?
When we got the kids the best deal we got was from Comet as they were offering a speaker dock that also charged the iTouch, but the larger sizes were cheaper elsewhere.
Once you know what size you want shop around. I have always found the price comparison sites like Kelkoo are useful for narrowing things down a bit.

I have the iphone
DS has the itouch

like both but if DS has to go any where he has to take both as all I have to do it take one

i got an ipod touch from my partner as a surprise last Christmas, I loved it to bits, still do, but in the end I got an iphone too because I began to get frustrated that I couldn't just google/check my email when i was out .. .I've only had the iphone a week ... vodafone made me an upgrade offer i couldn't resist ... but it's great really great!

Well I got the ipod touch today, I'm loving it at the moment but still trting to find my way around it. If anyone has any tips please let me know. Claire I got toy story mania downloaded and love it too
