My husband is concerned the challenge will not be worth the money. Please help me convince him it is worth the money and will be a complete blast! :cool1:

This is funny - it is the other way around for us. I'd love to do it, but can't justify the expense of another trip. DH saw the ad in Runner's World and totally wants to go!

I think that if you can swing the cost of the trip, the cost for Everest would be worth it, though!

Well, if you are planning a Disney trip and don't have park tickets--then the race cost isn't too bad, since they give you a 1-day/1-park pass (good for use through 12/31/10). Based on current ticket prices, that makes the cost of the race itself about $30-40 bucks--not too bad.

Best justification I've ever had for spending money on trips/experiences is that unlike buying something (like a TV or something liek that) is that over the long term you will be far happier with your decision to go do something. You'll talk about it for months after, and I'm not sure but isnt Everest the one thats a scavenger hunt as well as a race. Also they have had some pretty steep discounts.

Sorry can't help :) I agree with your husband that the race is too expensive.

But as Maura said, if you don't have tickets it might not be too bad, not that you would ever pay the one day rate. But $50 for the race and $50 for a park ticket isn't too bad.

If you have tickets then it is a ridiculous price to pay.

enjoy either way,
Duane.

Does anyone know anything about the after party? Maybe that might make the ticket prices worth it. Is there free alcohol??

There won't be anything free except for the powerade and muffins after the race.

We did the race last year in the monsoon and were disappointed with the party afterwards. Everything seemed to be closed and there wasn't much to do except walk around part of the park in the rain.

DW and I felt it was a nice race to do once but we can't justify the price for a 5k. We have passes so the tickets are meaningless to us and we can do other races for a lot less.

Thanks for your responses. We made a compromise. We decided to skip the EE challenge as we are AP holders, and are going to do the Halloween 5k, because we go to Not So Scary every year anyways.
