Hi all ,

I have booked a stay for pop with a preferred room for next November for a two week solo trip . One of the main reasons I booked was for the convenience of the skyliner for HS and it also was in my budget. Though I do have some doubts about my choice mainly of how loud the resort may be and if large sports / cheerleading groups usually visit? As I like to enjoy resort days in between. I was half contemplating of doing port Orleans probably riverside as I enjoy the theming of that better. Or if there are any other resorts within that price range.

Would love to hear your thoughts if any of you have stayed at either recently or if I should change my booking.

Thanks!

POP is aweseme and my favorite resort on property. It is so convenient - centrally located, never shares busses and has the Skyliner. Those end-of-the-night busses will be crowded though! Honestly, sports teams aren't as big of a problem as people make them out to be. It might be bustling at hte resort, but I've never known noise to be a real issue. I think you get more of that at the All-Stars, but even there it's really fine. I think that you'll enjoy POP, especially with a preferred room.

Thank you for the reply very help! The buses were also another selling point as you said buses at the moderates all seem to have a massive loop apart from FQ.

I've never stayed at Pop, but everyone I know that has absolutely loves Pop. I'm booking with a DVC rental for my upcoming trip, but I heavily considered Pop myself because it was so highly recommended by everyone I know. With how well-loved a resort it is, I highly doubt you'll regret booking there!

Yes, the busses at Pop only have one stop at the resort and it never shares with others, so it is always direct. Also note, depending on where your room is, you can use the Art of Animation bus then walk across the bridge (could be a long walk though).

preferred room for next November
'24 or '25 ? Couldn't forecast any pricing / discounts for '25.

Pop is a great 'base' location. I wouldn't think there would be a lot of the groups you reference at "The World" in November.

2 weeks - Solo ............. can you say 'split stay'?

If you change your mind or decide you want a "split" stay, Coronado is another good option for solo (often priced similarly if not cheaper than Pop). I've stayed there several times and last time as a solo. It worked out well.

(I'm contemplating Pop for a short trip in September instead of the All-Stars Sports I currently have booked. My family is leaving 3 days before me and I'll be solo and I'm trying to decide...)

I have had noise issues at Pop, but that was during Pop Warner. And when I spoke to the on call manager the night it was really bad, I was about the 20th person to complain due to one group that I just happened to be in the same building as. But that is a specific week and, I believe, is/was the largest single group that Disney hosts/hosted. One case of a bad apple spoiling the bunch.

Overall if you avoid the Preferred pool rooms you will generally be in a nice location with decent noise levels. If you can swing it, a preferred room in the 50s/70s towards the lake are my favourite rooms. I like 70s slightly more.

The skyliner is wonderful. Really enjoy having the back access to Epcot and easy access to DHS.

Pop is home for me at Disney. I never see the need to spend extra to go elsewhere when I have always enjoyed it there and when problems have happened the response from guest services and the front desk has been impeccable.

Thank you for the advice! I have booked a preferred non pool view so I will see if I can request those sections.

The one disadvantage to POP is that there is not really a nice place to hang out except for the pool areas. Of course, if you are an open-to-close park person, that's not the issue for you that it is for us. An easy solution is to head over to the Riviera. Bar Riva is delightful, the food is good, and you can sit inside or outside depending on the weather. Going further afield, there are lovely spots at the Beach Club and Yacht Club as well. Enjoy your trip!

I love pop and stayed there for 10 nights on one of my solo trips. I bought a fan and had it delivered so I never noticed any noise and I’m a light sleeper.

I also 2nd Coronado and am doing that for 4 nights in September before a cruise. Coronado has quickly become my favorite resort.

Only downside to Pop is the lobby isn't really relaxing on your rest days as it gets loud, but it's perfect for the easy access to HS and Epcot.

The only reason I would choose Port Orleans over Pop is the lobby and better food.
