Hi guys,

Thought I would throw this one out to all you experts in the hope you can shed some light.
My husband and I want to take our twins to Disneyland/San Diego next year and are wondering when to go. We've been together twice, both in May as that's when we love to travel, however so we can save up a bit more, we were thinking September or November. Any drawbacks to travelling at this time of year? Our twins are only young, so we'd travel outside of Aust school holiday times to get better air fares.

Any help greatly appreciated!

My vote would go to when you can get the best deals on air fare.

Halloween decorations go up mid September through to the end of October.
Christmas decorations go up early November through to early Jan.

Depending on how the weather goes, November can be a bit colder than September; but it can be very pleasant and still warm in November. We went mid-November one year and temperatures were 25 - 30 C; we were still swimming in the hotel pool.

I've been in October and November and there is not a lot of difference in the weather really.
Both times it rained hardly at all.

I would probably go in November, it will just give you that extra time to save a bit more money, and the fares could be a little better.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tips! I can't believe I hadn't thought of decorations - that's a really good point. There are no exciting times in May - just avoiding Memorial Day and the crowds that come with it

Actually, the Christmas decorations make Disneyland amazing :thumbsup2

If you want no crowds, mid-late January. We went after MLK Jr Day (third Monday of January) and we walked onto most rides. Airfares were pretty good considering; around $1500 return for adults.

But gosh those Christmas pictures make me want to go there in December so badly!

We are taking our twins in September 2012, mainly it fits in with avoiding peak school holidays and gets us away from the cold in NZ.

I'd go in November because of Christmas. awwwwwwwww We love it. They say the week after thanks giving is quite quiet but I'll let you know when we get back.

If you do travel in November, some attractions like it's a Small World are closed for over a week to put up the Christmas decorations, Be sure to check the closure guides at a site like mouseplanet dot com
