Is it really as simple as going to one of the four designated places and filling in a form?

Where did you get/intend to get your license from?

Is the 3 day waiting period applicable for UK residents?

Is there a form I can complete prior to getting to the court house?

Sorry for all tghe questions!

Thankyou!

the easiest courthouse to get to is the kissimme one, this is the one i went to . i can send you instructions of how to get there if you want, i'll see if i can dig out the directions. you can get the licence by mail from some agencies on the net, but they charge you extra and its not that hard to get it yourself
there's no waiting period for UK guests, when i went in november 2005, including waiting in the queue and getting the actual licence we were there for just short of an hour. you get an hours free parking.
you pick up a form at the courthouse, which is easy enough to fill out, you can do it while you're waiting.
hope that helps

Hi,,

Iam Canadian and my husband is American,,once we completed all the required paperwork for immigration we just needed to get married. We used A Wedding For You to get the licence,,it costs a bit more,,but it saved us having to go down to the court house and a lot of worry. In fact it was waiting for us in Florida when we arrived,,we had it sent to our EM who held onto it for us until the wedding. Im not sure if this helps,,but here is a link to their page,,:)

Good Luck & Congratulations :wizard:

were also using a wedding for you inc. i just mailed the application today. it costs a bit more but its just more convinient for us. im not sure how it works for out of country but in the usa outside of florida you can arrange for them to get your marriage license. the marriage license is good for 60 days.

theres no waiting period for marriage licenses unless youre a florida resident. there are two nearby courthouses if you want to get the marriage license once you arrive in florida.

osceola county courthouse
2 courthouse square 2nd floor
kissimmee, fl
407-343-3530 or www.osceolaclerk.com

orange county courthouse
425 n. orange avenue room#355
orlando, fl
407-836-2067 or orangeclerk.ocfl.net

We went to the Osceola Courthouse, about 15 mins south of I-Drive, just near downtown Kissimmee.
It is sooooo simple. There is a dedicated office for passports and marriage licenses on about the 3rd or 4th floor.
You fill out a form and pay $90 (ish). That's it ! You get your license there and then. Takes about 30 mins in total and the people in there were excellent !

You keep the license and give it to the Minister on the day. He completes his legal part when you are wed and sends it back as that is his obligation.
About 4 or 5 weeks later, your certificate arrives through the post. Voila !

This all sounds sweet and simple! The only problem is, if (heaven forbid) any of us foreign residents decide to get divorced, we have to go back to Orlando to do so! Then again, it does take a certain amount of understanding and love between a couple to pick up and get married so far from home, so I think none of us have to worry about that one little detail!

PS. Just want to clarify, I'm not saying that people who have "normal" weddings don't have a lot of love or understanding!
