This was brought on by Dopeygirl telling me about a record player (!) she had as a kid. For the life of me, I can't remember the name of that red record player I had, 45 rpm, that when you opened it, it shut off....closed, it played your record. WHAT is the name, PLEASE?!?! Pic would be ideal, IF I could remember the name!

TIA

Is this it by any chance?

I think that maybe some of us are dating ourselves!!! Wish I could say.."What is that odd looking thing?" But, alas, I can not.

I don't think it is that one. The one she is referring to had the arm of the player built into the lid IIRC. I can picture it but do not know the name.

I had record player like the one pictured... but I think it was blue. :D

I think mine was orange. I can't think back that long ago.:D I loved that record player. I didn't want to get rid of it even when my parents bought me a real stereo when I was a teenager. But if you put the big records on it, it would always skip, you had to put pennies on them to weigh them down. Oh boy, I feel old, I think I'll stop right here! :teeth:

I remember, we had one of those, ours was made out of wood so the color was brown. I think we may still have it at home in the PI (Philippines) We still have our 45s and the long playing back home. I remember we have Captain n Tenille, Michael Jackson "One Day in Your Life." Bread and other old artists.

I have a kindergarten story about records. I use tapes and cd's but sometimes I still use records and a record player in my k room and my kiddos think the records are cd's! I had a parent tell me that her son wanted BIG cd's like Mrs. M.'s! :)

I got one of those for Christmas when I was in first grade! It was purchased with 4 45's...and spurred my interest in being a radio dj! So much so that I was for five years, lol!

The other day, I put "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies on my record player (yes, I have a 45 adaptor!! ) for my boys to hear. My middle son asked how many songs were on one side........I said one, of course!!! :teeth:
