We stayed in Kindani Village .. fabulous room and view . We thought we would try new with Jambo house this year.... are we going to be disappointed? Will it be just as nice? What about the difference in room.. sizes... upgrades... etc...
I'm not sure if this will make sense, but Kidani has a bit more of the dvc "vibe" and jambo has a bit more of the hotel "vibe." Kidani has things like the library and the community hall, the bbq grills, parking in the basement stuff like that. But jambo is nice too because it has a bit more of a luxury hotel sort of fill. The lobby is so very impressive. More dining options. Still a great pool. You'll be happy to try it, imho.
I think it depends on party size and what size room you are getting. For us if we went with the kids we would definatly only stay at Kidani. Since we would need a 1bd minimum the extra bathroom in kidani is a major plus. We also prefered the quiet lobby and the less crowded grounds when it was with the kids. Now DH and I went without the kids in March and stayed in Kidani and I almost wished we would have stayed at Jambo. Just to be more in the action and having more options for dining/drinking available. We also only needed a studio and I don't think there is much of a size difference at all there.
We will be staying Jambo CL in March just DH and I and I can not wait.
Kidani has the extra bathroom, but because of the limites space and the fact that they had to redo what had been there to work with from what had originally been hotel rooms, Jambo did not have room for the extra bath. So, if you are in a 2 bedroom at Jambo, you will have 2 bathrooms or in a 1 bedroom, one bath. If you are in a 2 bedroom at Kidani, you will have 3 bathrooms, or a 1 bedroom in Kidani has 2 bathrooms.
I just got back from Jambo and the one advantage I can see with Kidani is the bus service. The buses for the parks pick up at Kidani first so there were a lot of times where a bus arrived at Jambo that was 1/2 to 3/4 full already. We had to stand up a lot to go to the parks during the busier times.
One thing I did hear from someone staying at Kidani was the great distance your room could be from the lobby/bus stop. He said he was getting off at Jambo as it was quicker for him to walk to his room from there than it was from the bus stop at Kidani. That doesn't seem to make sense to me but that is what he said.
We are booked for Kidani in December so are anxious to do the comparision ourselves.
I also like the pool and activities better at Kidani. While there is no counter service and the lobby is not as impressive, I think the Community Hall and staff, pool slide, and splash areas are much nicer at Kidani.

Kidani rocks, but we are "DVC" people as opposed to "hotel" people. Our other two favorites are OKW and SSR. I find the Jambo lobby too large and overwhelming compared to Kidani's. The animals seem more accessible at Kidani, and the rooms there are definitely more DVC than the retrofitted Jambo rooms. That said, why not try Jambo? You know you like Kidani, so you know you'll be back.

We were the second to last room at Kidani towards Jambo in Dec and I can say the walk was about the same from our room to lobby as it was from Jambo to our room. We chose to do the walk from Jambo since it was mostly outside and I didn't have to worry about the kids disturbing anyone while walking down that extremely long hall way. We actually much prefered that room to the one that was closer to the lobby. It was SOOOOO quiet!

Yes, we had a room on the last "bead" toward Jambo in March at Kidani, and we also thought the walk to the Jambo lobby was about the same as the walk to the Kidani lobby. In fact, we didn't go to the Kidani lobby much.
