Disney's All Star Sports 8/15/06-8/25-06

2 adults 1 child 1 infant

AAA: 1968.33 Preferred room, tickets and meal plan

Disney: Same deal 2,100.51

Difference of $132

I guess I have to go with a package because I wanted to try the meal plan. Is the AAA a good deal since it is a little cheaper than Disney? Is there any advantage to booking with Disney vs AAA?

DO you think they will come out with a better package for the Summer like book 4 days get 3 free? I don't know whether to hold out for a better deal or jump on it? Thanks.

is there anyway you can change your dates a bit? Value season is from 8/27-10/4. The dates you have now are reg season Preferred room rates.

reg season AAA rate : $94.35 ( not including tax )Preferred room

value season AAA rate: $72.80 ( not including tax )Preferred room

Thank you for pointing that out! I am going to check in to it. Is Labor Day Sept 4. How do you think the crowds will be Aug 27-Sept 3?

To my understanding, there is no difference between booking through Disney and AAA. We also have 2 adults, 1 child (just turning 3) and an 18 month old. So we are somewhat in the same boat as you. AAA just does what you would do-calls Disney.

I got prices through Disney and through AAA for room only and packages. AAA wasn't that much cheaper than Disney. I'm a type A personality so I went through Disney. The thing with AAA is there is now a middle man in the picture. In my situation I could see things getting screwed up for a small savings. It wasn't worth the worry for me. But if you like your AAA agent and want the meal plan than it could be worth it for you.

We eventually did a room only AAA rate, through Disney. If you want the meal plan and AAA rate-you have to go through AAA. Disney does not discount the package. We actually decided against the meal plan because with the numbers we were pretty much breaking even either way. I'm holding out for an AP rate and possibly getting the dining card and hoping we'll save more that way.

Good luck!

I have never been, but keep hearing that the crowds are quite low Labor Day weekend - guess everyone is getting ready for back-to-school. Take a look at touringplans.com, they will have a prediction for crowds during your stay. Good luck and have a great trip!!

I was just at AAA yesterday to get some prices for my upcoming vacation. I usually book direct thru Disney thru their website-- its so easy- even just to check the prices- but I figured let me just see what AAA can save me since I am a member.

PS- i asked- what happens if i book thru AAA and then i find disney is offering a discount etc- she sd my ressie will change to reflect that discount-- but ask whoever you book thru again just to be sure.

I got a price from Disney
Me and my husband
8 nights- Sept 23/Oct 1st park hopper w/ exp for 8 days at the POR
w/ dining
water view
travel insurance
total= 2499.80

AAA gave me the same thing for 2343.06- that saves me 276.64!

I am also a control freak and need to be sure everything is correct- that is why I did my homework before I went. I told AAA exactly what I did and did not want. She said she could tell I knew what I wanted.

When I originally checked the prices on Disney I was not going to get a water view- but now I am booking thru AAA and getting a cheaper rate- I am going for it! I thought it would be nice to get a water view especially at the POR!

As far as dining. I did it in December and loved it. I think it is well worth it for me and my husband because we eat at all the really nice restaurants (except the ones that you have to use (2) dining for one meal) so we get our moneys worth- the amount that we are paying for the dining plan (an extra 607.84) is way less than what we would have paid for out of our pocket if we did not get it.

I know it may be harder for someone with kids to choose some of the nice restaurants- (kids may be bored) but for us the dining is great.

Some of the extras you get when booking thru AAA are (I am looking at the brochure right here!):

**10% off food and non-alc bev at Wolfgang pucks- Fulton’s crab house- Portobello yacht club- planet Hollywood- bongos Cuban cafe-

**15% off food and non-alc bev at house of blues and earl of sandwich

**20% off food and non-alc bev at WW of sports complex

**One free entree and bev at planet Hollywood- (per reservation)

---I know you will have the dining plan- but maybe if you happen to use your plan at one of the restaurants that you have to use (2) of your days- you can still get a % off food for another day.

**preferred fireworks viewing area

**you also save 10/20% off of some water sports, golf, Richard petty driving experience-- SPA services at the grand Floridian---and Disney theme tours (I want to try the segway tour at epcot!)

**if you are driving you get diamond parking- (closer to the entrance) rental car free upgrade comp child seat

Maybe you can visit your local AAA and sit down with them- get the brochure and see the info.

WOW-- some may think I WORK for AAA after this shpeel!

Sorry so winded- but just wanted you to know what you can get!

hello! i went in 93 (ok so hard to compare from so long ago hehe) and i stayed over the labour day weekend. i believe we left the thursday before and came back the wednesday after, and we walked on to almost everything. i couldn't believe the lack of people!

my friend and i were told by cm's that it was because the kids all went back to school the week and two weeks prior to when we arrived!

(our longest wait for splash mountain was somewhere around 15 minutes!!!!and that was pretty new then!)

The last week of August is the absolute best week to go!.. I have done it twice and last year it was not crowded at all. I don't know if that was the fear of hurricanes or because of hurricane Katrina. We literally walked on to all the rides. I can't think of a better time to go if you have to go in the summer. The crowds did pick up for Labor Day w/e. By Labor day Monday the place was vacant. Change your dates - it is worth the savings.

As far as AAA is concerned - I also used AAA to book my trip. It worked out fine. The extra perks were nice. If there is a discount code or other offer, AAA, should be able to apply it for you. For example, my trip had been booked for about 1 week when the free dining offer became available. AAA changed my reservation by applying the code. It was no trouble. I used my AAA credit card to get points and I got about $75 back for AAA services to use on future trips.

Have a great trip.
