I just got off the phone with Disney and was told I could not change my 5dmyw ticket to a 6dmyw and use 2 tickets on the same day to enter 2 parks???? I just need to park hop one day on my trip for a dinner ressie and thought I could just use my extra ticket to enter a different park for a meal ugh.... Any way around this??

The tickets don't work that way, unfortunately. You might want to consider re-arranging your dining reservation. There are a lot of options for great dining at the resorts, which don't require park admission, so for example, you could dine at a resort near the Magic Kingdom on the day you have used your ticket for the Magic Kingdom, does that make sense? Which reservation are you trying to fix?

Yes, change your meal. Otherwise no.

You just need to change your schedule and make whatever park your ressie is at your park of the day. Or switch your ressie to be at your current park of the day. Or add park hopper on to your tickets; then you could hop more than one day if you like.

You could also just get a ressie at somewhere not in a park, like Chef Mickey's. Good luck!

Thanks...I know if there was a way around this DisBoarders would know. This trip was just booked on a last minute surprise Christmas present and I was trying to save every penny I could. On our last trip I had to use a 1 day ticket to enter 1 hour before our MVMCP ticket to enter to eat at LTT then also use my MVMCP ticket the same day. I guess the difference is that was a special event ticket so two could be used on the same day. It would have made my planning alot easier if it could be done that way...ugh....now to park hop or change my ressies? decisions decisions....Thanks everyone!

Dining is why I buy park hoppers every time. I think we could probably stick to one park a day if it wasn't for us loving to eat in Epcot.

Why don't you just visit the park that the reservations are made to that day? Visit the other park the other day? Sorry I don't get the issue 4 parks 5 days seems there shouldn't be an issue?

A base ticket is one major (theme) park per day. You are allowed to re-enter the same park if you leave it on one day, but it can only be used at the one park.

Note that the ticket will state on it either "Not Valid For Park Hopping" or "One Theme Park Per Day". That should be a hint.

If you put the ticket in the turnstile of another park the display on the Guest side of the turnstile will be "ACCESS DENIED". The top line of the display on the Greeter side will give information about the ticket, and the second line of the display will say "CROSSOVER NOT PERMITTED". The turnstile will not unlock.

This is because Disney charges $5.00 per day over four days on a ticket, but charges $54 to allow hopping. It does not make economic sense for Disney to allow this.

If you actually have multiple tickets (more than one physical ticket per person) as opposed to multiple day tickets, you can use these tickets for multiple entries. But it makes absolutely no economic sense as a separate ticket costs a lot more than adding hopping to a ticket.

Or, as I recently told a Guest who was arguing with me about using a different day on the ticket:

The turnstile computer thinks today is Friday. The turnstile computer at the other park also thinks today is Friday. The two turnstile computers talk to each other. If you can convince this turnstile computer that today is not the same Friday as the other computer thinks, it will let you in.

but not so sure the 'economic sense' standard of the $54 hopper vs the extra day <$10 holds water.

If so, why does Disney even allow discounts on multiple day passes? Why would they not charge a single flat fee per day per park? Why would they offer an annual pass to someone who can 'save money' by going more than 'x' days a year?

The answer is, as high as the ticket gate prices are, they make their money INSIDE the park, and if you offer an incentive to get into the gates for multiple days, the revenue increases.

The 'sweet' spot is the 5 day mark because it is typical of the American vacation, so you market your base ticket around that, and than tack on 'must have' add ons that that gives you flexibility BUT keeps you on the property for the 5 days..(and buying those $20 mickey ears, those $5 rice kripsy treats, etc.

Well Op I get your point about thinking that just using the extra ticket would work...it makes sense it just doesn't work....but anyways we bought park hoppers last year and it was a total waste for our family so this year we are doing as a PP suggested and scheduling our park day to coincide with reservations. So Crystal Palace is Magic Kingdom day and Tusker House is Animal Kingdom day...if you only have one ressie that makes it necessary to park hop I would reschedule that restaurant to a resort restaurant. You don't need a park ticket to go to a resort :) Good Luck!!!

I think it actually has more to do with people flying in Saturday, Monday MK, Tues Epcot Wed DHS Thur AK - FRI and SATURDAY UNIVERSAL - fly home Sunday. And there is SeaWorld to fit in as well.

Cheap multi day tickets keep people from visiting the competitive parks - I suspect it has to do more with denying revenue to Universal than maximizing it for Disney. For that reason, allowing multi day tickets to take the place of hopping doesn't accomplish the goal since it doesn't force the use of multiday tickets over the whole ticket life.

On a side note, yay for the phone CM for knowing it can't be done! Better for OP to find out now and change her schedule, vs finding out then after already paying for that extra day that gets her nothing!
