Our favorite resort is the Poly, however we decided to book WL woods view for a change. Now that it's getting closer I'm trying to keep myself from changing resorts.

I'm thinking.... besides the boat from MK to the WL, does the transportation warrant paying the price. Maybe we should save some $$ and just do moderate since it's all bus service as well. Then I'm thinking...to heck with the money, let's spend a little extra and stay at the Poly.

Someone keep me on track!! Let me know how great the WL is!

The WL is our second favorite resort after the Poly (I know...not helping ). But really.....the WL is an awesome resort with beautiful grounds, great pool, the boat transportation to MK is a nice, relaxing ride, and the lobby is gorgeous with the huge fireplace and rocking chairs to just sit and take in the ambiance of the resort ::yes::. I don't think you will be disappointed staying at the WL. We are booked for our third stay there in December :santa:. But we will be back at the Poly in June or July 2009 :goodvibes. We love both resorts for different reasons and love staying at each one :cutie:.

If you don't go to WDW that often, I would stay at the Poly. If you know you will be back for sure next year or sooner, you might want to try something different. For us, we never know if or when we will be back, and eventhough we should save the money and stay some place less expensive, I figure if you are spending that much for vacation, stay where you know you will have no regrets.

The Wilderness Lodge is an excellent Resort and I am sure you would have a great time staying there. However if you might have doubts about it and are thinking of staying at the Polynesian, will you be able to enjoy the Wilderness Lodge if you don't switch Resorts?

I have never stayed at the Poly so I can't compare the 2 but I have stayed at the WL twice in fact just 3 weeks ago. It is just beautiful. We also found the cm's to be so friendly. They were all so welcoming. I know it's hard to stay somewhere different when you have a favorite resort because you don't want to be disappointed but I really don't think you will be. There is only one way for you to find out for yourself though!

Well, I prefer the Poly by a mile BUT whenever we go on a mom and DS trip we stay at WL because of its proximity to MK and the cheaper cost. Our last trip there in late Jan/Feb, we were pleased to discover that WL has fixed some of their frustrating transportation issues. We love the direct bus to MK in the mornings (when we are in a hurry). The boat is great and relaxing when heading "home". There was still too much sharing with other MK resorts when going elsewhere, IMO, but at least WL is usually the first dropped off ... we shared buses with the Poly a few times so that means bus service could be similar (but I don't know for sure. When we stay at the Poly, DH is along and we always rent a car)

I just mention all of this because it seems like transportation was the big issue as it is for us. The other thing for us are the small rooms so that might be a factor depending how many of you are staying in the room. WL is lovely and relaxing overall, a good choice, though not my absolute favorite.

We have spent quite a few vacations at the Poly, but that was years ago when rack rates were cheaperand they gave good AP discounts. That is now in the past, I still check their rates and even with the discount its not enough or worth it. We have been taking the savings from not staying at the Poly and the last 10 trips have been at the Lodge and we extend our stays to 10-12 nights. Poly is fantastic for the view but the monorail is all hype, easy yes, fast?, sometimes not so much and leaving the MK, the monorail line is huge, we have opted to use the big ferry and small boat at times just to get back to the Poly.

Wilderness Lodge is now our home, love the place, all under one roof, great pool, good dining and what we like is the boat to FW for their buffets, plus we still can boat to CR and catch a monorail to EPCOT. An advantage to us is leaving the MK, we can take the motor launch or a bus back or even walk to the CR and catch the boat out the back. Don't get me wrong, Poly is fantastic, just not at the price they are asking.

How about doing a split stay? Maybe doing the WL for the first part, then moving to the Poly.

We just stayed at the WL a couple months ago. And we've also stayed at Poly a few times. Only thing I can say is that it's natural to miss your favorite resort when you stay somewhere else. You will probably miss the monorail and seeing the Castle from the beach. However, WL is a very beautiful resort with a great lobby and fun pool. The boat to MK is nice as well. If you have kids that love Chef Mickeys, we couldn't believe how fast the boat to CR was! It took around 2 minutes to boat from WL to CR. Anyway, I say to give WL a try ~ I can't imagine someone not liking it.

Don't underestimate the other benefits of a deluxe. I'd love to save money on my room and I hate busses too. But I also hate double beds and I really appreciate having a balcony. Stick with the WL or spring for the Poly, but don't make a decision soley to save money on your vacation, unless you need to.

I can't help you but I feel your pain. My family's favorite resorts are YC, GF and the Poly.

We couldn't get YC with an AP rate so we are trying BC and I'm so nervous I won't get a full balcony.

In October we are taking a surprise trip for the kids, DH is running the 13K Tower of Terror Run. BWI was the only deluxe with a special rate for the runners. I'm nervous I'll miss YC as we are so close, and the kids might be afraid of the clown pool!

In February we are going down for the girls to compete in Twirlmania. My in-laws are coming with us. Since it is peak season (really high rates) we are staying at WL, and putting one of the kids in the room with their grandparents. I'm a nervous wreck that I won't like WL.

So I'm right there with you - resort anxiety galore!

We were at the Poly last month. Stay with WL. The Poly was no great shakes. If we hadn't had the DDP as a package,we would have moved to another resort. By no means did it ruin our trip but I can't say it enhanced it either.

Thanks guys for the positive encouragement. I keep telling myself "you're not gonna change....go for a different experience...lol".

I thought about the moderate thing and yes although it is less expensive, we do like the other things that a deluxe has to offer. But I know that I will miss seeing the castle from the poly beach. I guess I'll get my fix when we eat at Ohana, I can sit on the beach and look at the castle, or we are actually having our dinner time during the fireworks so hopefully we will get a good seat for that.

Different experience, different experience...lol.

So, I'm now compiling my packing list, and organizing my house as I refuse to go on vacation without the house spotless and organized...lol. I'm usually not this obsessive. Thank goodness for vacation or my house would never get cleaned...lol!

I went through the same thing you did a few months ago I was booked at the WLV but once it got closer I started missing the Poly, so I changed my res. And decided we would be happier at the POLY:cool1:

We like Poly, but like WL just about as much!:rotfl: For the price WL is a great change of pace!:rotfl2:

I honestly don't think you could go wrong with either one. We've stayed at both within the last 2 years and are going back to WL this August mainly b/c we can't justify the cost of the Poly at this time (trying not to go broke on this one...:rotfl: ) My kids really loved the theming of WL and the geyser was a huge hit. The Whispering Canyon was their fave restaurant on property and we all had a great time there. The rooms are slightly smaller, but as long as you don't have a 5th person you can comfortably do that room. It's also nice b/c the double sinks are outside the shower and toilet area, so I can be getting ready while someone else has the privacy of the bathroom, unlike the Poly. It's also a lot less walking to get to everything compared to the Poly. We are looking forward to eating at Artist Point on this trip. The Poly doesn't have any signature dining, so that is another nice difference if you are a foodie. Well, hopefully you have a great trip whatever you decide. :thumbsup2
