I need some ideas - I am drawing a blank. I would like something that each of them can contribute to the scarecrow but it has to be simple for them as they are 2nd and 3rd graders.

The scarecrow will have to be able to stand attached to a lamppost for about 3 or 4 weeks so it needs to be fairly sturdy. Last year we made the head/face out of a huge dried sunflower, put a fake brownie vet on the scarecrow and had the girls make beaded necklaces for the scarecrow to wear.

I was trying to make an idea work for the leaders to make a big normal looking dog-walking scarecrow walking a bunch of dogs on leashes, and each scout could do their own dog - but I have NO clue how to make little, easy, dog scarecrows!

HELP!

How about dressing your scarecrow in a girlscout uniform and having it pull a wagon with girl scout cookie boxes in it?

Ohhhh, that's so simple and I love it. Will definitely consider this. But the boxes won't hold up to the rainy October days - but maybe we can figure this out.

You can easily get the boxes to last the season by wrapping them in clear packing tape and overlapping the seams......may want to weigh them down a bit with some rocks after you take the cookies out so they don't blow out of the wagon!!!
I have a sled that is out for xmas with small present boxes in it and they do fine all season with the packing tape wrap over the xmas paper!!!

P.s. the easiest way to make little dog scarecrows is with a bunch of large mens socks!!

How about making a normal kind of scarecrow, but it could hold a bunch of plastic or foam pumpkins, and each girl could decorate their own pumpkin with their name, make a jack o lantern face, etc.?
Or the scarecrow could hold a bunch of (weather -proofed) gs cookie boxes.

But the boxes won't hold up to the rainy October days - but maybe we can figure this out.

What about wrapping some bricks in fabric- with a "GS Cookies" sign on the wagon it might work. It would last in the weather, and if it was important, you could use fabric paint to identify the type of cookie on the "box".

I LOVE this scarecrow idea- I am a Girl Scout leader and we don't have anything like that.
