I talked to my sis and her hubby into going by showing them AoA, but now we are staying 12 nights and I am paying for our mother, my 2 adult kids, DH, DS (age 4) and me - so 6 people. I am now wanting to rent points and get a 2 bedroom at WLV, OKW or AKV's. But my sis is in love with AoA, I would have 2 get 2 suites at AoA, renting is much cheaper for me, plus being there that long a washer and dryer will be handy.

My sis will have herself, DH, DS (5) and a little guy that will be 18 months. This will be their 1st trip as a family, our 2nd and we will be going again soon after this trip. Should I just go with the flow or try to get my sis to change resorts?? Sis is in love with the Cars Suites

Why don't you rent points and you Sis stay at AoA? Everyone wins!:thumbsup2

After a couple trips with multiple families, I must say it's nice to have your own oasis to go back to. Sometimes too much together time can be tiring.

would she settle for a room at AOA - or one at Pop

then you can do the 2-bedroom for everyone else.

a 2-bedroom at vwl will only sleep 8 not 9 - which is what it will be with your sister.

now okw, akv (kidani) and BLT will sleep 9 plus one under 2.

but if she goes for a room at Pop or AOA instead of a suite - then you can get the 2-bedroom at VWL

A total of 9 people? No way everyone is going to be 100% happy. I agree with you renting points and your sister doing whatever she wants. You can meet up with you at the park of the day. Cell phones will be used to coordinate.

We did a family group of 10 in January and four rooms at Pop Century. We were all together in a row but even then, we STILL didn't tour as a big group. One morning, my son and his family went to Magic Kingdom, the rest of Epcot. One morning, we all were at the Studios but the older folk were later with being ready. We just met up if we could. During the week, there was one time when all ten of us were together and that was to get FastPasses for Star Tours but the older folk decided to leave before then.

We get along pretty well, live only a block from each other, so that is not a problem. She really wants AoA, what is the closest DVC resort to AoA? We will be going to the same parks on the same days, but not traveling as a group from ride to ride, that is just a little much. If I rent a DVC 2 bedroom, it would still just be the 6 of us that I am paying for, I think all 9 of us in a room is a little much. We all need our space. Thanks for the ideas.....

I can only see some of your ticker, but are you trying for Christmas 2012 or Christmas 2013? Hopefully it's 2013 because DVC resorts are pretty much booked for the whole month of December.

I agree with PPs, book where you want and let your sister book where she wants. Meet up at the parks for touring and meals, but allow yourselves some space to retreat away from each others' families.

If you want to rent points at VWL during the Christmas season, make sure you find someone to rent from before the 11 month booking window opens, those villas are very hard to come by in December.

the whole thing shows for me and it's 2013 :)

I def agree with the PP about finding somebody beforehand especially if you want a Villa at Wilderness Lodge. I'd rent points for the 6 of you then your sister and her family can stay at AoA then you can just meet up for the day at whichever park you choose.

How many nights were you planning to go? Why not stick with the original plan so you can afford AoA? ...and that is the reason why you sister decided to go because you showed her pictures of AoA and now you want her to stay at a different resort? I say, let her stay at AoA and you can pick the resort or villa that you like. You can always visit her at AoA and she can visit you too. You guys can always meet up at the parks and restaurants and hang at the resort/villa.

with 3 family reunions under my belt, I totally agree. after a long day in the parks and family meal times, I definitely enjoyed saying good night and just having my immediate family together.

Renting points is not for everyone. Not everyone is comfortable about prepaying a private party (owner of the points) for the reservation.

Since you're staying 12 nights, why not switch resorts? Stay the first 6 nights at AoA then move to a DVC for the remaining 6 nights.

Closest Dvc villa is BWV, about a 4-5 minute drive, then it's BCV about 7-8 minutes away. We have stayed at both with friends staying at POP and it was an easy, fast drive.

Any chance your mother could stay in your sister's suite? That would make it 5 people in each, instead of cramming 6 into yours (5 of whom are adult). It really doesn't matter who is "paying" for your mother - in this scenario she really doesn't add expense to either suite.
